Chapter Twelve
Getting through the week seemed like a small feat for someone with Maia's work overload. She'd gone from juggling work and taking care of a tiny human to packing a small bag for a weekend trip over the weekend. Deciding to take Jourdan up on his offer was a once in a lifetime thing. She knew that he was thrilled about the entire thing, but she really had to lay down the law that she wasn't going to continue making these trips.
He'd paid for everything to get her to him. When she landed, he was there to collect her in the dead of the night. "You want something to eat?" Jourdan asked, looking over to her from the driver's seat of his Chevrolet Tahoe.
Mai's head was leaned against the window, eyes closed. She was jet lagged like shit and honestly just wanted to crawl into bed. After work, she had to wait for Olivia's parents to come back into town before heading out immediately for her own flight. "Something light."
"What's light?" Jourdan quizzed. "You want some fries or some shit?"
"Anything quick so I can crawl in bed." Her voice held a slight annoyance. Jourdan cut his eyes at her for a moment, before deciding not to bother her about it. He ended up grabbing her favorite guilty pleasure meal from Wendy's. Anytime she was having a bad day a baconator or chicken nuggets and fries would always make her happy.
Once they arrived at his home, he took her food and bag into the house, putting her bag into the room that he knew she probably wouldn't sleep in at all. When he entered the kitchen, she had her eyes closed and putting the sweet and sour sauce dipped chicken nugget into her mouth.
"Good ain't it?"
"Boy, fuck you." Mai glared over into his direction before rolling her eyes. Jour came up behind her in the barstool and kissed her on the cheek.
"I love ya, too Maia the Grouch. How was your flight?"
Maia shrugged her shoulders at the question. "It was a normal flight. I couldn't sleep on the plane, so I'm exhausted."
"Probably would've helped your mood."
"Again," she began, "boy fuck you."
Jourdan chuckled and went further into the kitchen to the refrigerator. He pulled out a cold bottle of his favorite bottled water, opening for a sip. Normally, he would've fucked with her and tried to take her food, but the Maia before him probably would've bit his damn finger off. They small talked before she finished her food and asked to be carried up the stairs. After looking at her crazy for a few seconds, he obliged and they found themselves in his master bedroom getting ready for the night.
"Are you sleeping in here or in your room?"
She was standing in the wide length mirror next to him, putting her long hair into an upper high bun. She hadn't removed her clothes yet, but he knew that it was next. Maia never liked sleeping with clothes, but the last time she was here, she chose a t-shirt.
Cheesing, she looked over to him. Jourdan already knew the answer the answer to that. Instead of having her go across the hall to get what she was going to wear, he went into his own closet to retrieve a black t-shirt of his own. The two of them climbed into his large bed after they'd changed.
To Zakari: I landed about an hour ago.
From Zakari: Good. Did you get to sleep?
To Zakari: :( No. I'm exhausted. I just ate, so I'm probably gonna head to bed now.
From Zakari: Get some rest, ma. Have a good night.
To Zakari: Goodnight.
"Maia, take a picture with me." Jourdan held his phone up for the two of them to take a picture. He'd informed her that his manager wanted him to get more involved in the social media world. This meant he was posting more of his daily life, going live a few times, and sometimes posting on Twitter. They wanted him to be relatable and accessible to his fans. What a lot of people didn't realize was that Jourdan was more relatable than people thought.
