Chapter Six
Nerves were kicking her ass. Her stomach wouldn't settle. The plane ride wasn't too long, but it was long enough for her mind to race. Had she really agreed to go one national television with this man? Granted, it wasn't as if she was going on stage with him, but she was still thinking of all of the critics.
The private jet landed and she waited for her cue to get off. The flight attendant was a doll at making her feel more comfortable. According to Jourdan, she was late as hell. There were so many things that went with these events and due to her stalling, she'd placed them behind schedule.
Once she exited the jet, she was met with a black SUV. Maia looked over to see Jourdan waiting for her near the opened rear door. His hands were stuffed in the pockets of his grey sweats, similar to her very own. His smile grew wide the moment he laid eyes on her.
"I thought you weren't coming to get me?" Maia asked, remembering their previous conversation this morning.
He smiled, grabbed ahold of her hand, and led her to the SUV. "I wasn't at first, but realized you were stalling because of your nerves. The last thing you needed was some strange nigga comin' to get you. It's also better that I give you the rundown on the way to where we're going."
"The show, right?" Mai asked once they were both inside the vehicle.
Jourdan shook his head. "Nah, we don't get dressed at the show. I have a place out here. It's closer to the venue and helps not be seen until the event."
Releasing a deep breath, Maia took in her surroundings. She'd gone to Atlanta a few times, but it was mainly for pleasure. While this was supposed to be a pleasurable trip, it was only anxiety-laced at the moment. Jourdan took her hand into his and when she looked over to him, he gave it a reassuring squeeze. "You'll be fine," he spoke, "You're literally just going to look pretty and have a good time. I have you a makeup artist, hair and fashion stylist. They're working together on your looks. I think they picked out a few different ones that'll match what I'm wearing, but you get to choose."
"Will you be in the room with me?"
Jourdan shook his head. "Nah, I have to get dressed and shit, mama. I'll peek in on you and shit. I just want you to calm down. You need a drink or something?" Mai refused the offer, not wanting to mess up her focus. Granted, she probably needed a shot to calm her nerves, but with her being a lightweight, that could have ended disastrously.
They pulled into the driveway of the beautiful two-story light brick home. Maia's eyes widened, because she'd never actually seen Jourdan's home. If she wasn't mistaken, everyone else had visited his home except for her. Usually when you saw a rapper's home, it was flashy and damn near unnecessary. Jourdan's home, however, was very family friendly and just made you feel at home.
"Jourdan, this is beautiful," Mai spoke, already following his lead out of the SUV.
Jour smiled and walked her to the front door, opening it immediately. "I'll give you a real tour when we get back," he promised. "First, though, I need you to get ready."
They entered the home and were met an open foyer, Mai's eyes went to the direction of the beautifully decorated dining room. Based on the decorations alone, she was sure that either his mom had a hand in decorated or he hired the perfect person. Two women and a man made their presence and each introducing themselves. There was Jessika the makeup artist, Tammy the fashion stylist, and Ronny the hairstylist.
"Alright," Tammy spoke in a giddy voice once Jourdan left Mai in their hands. "I have a few pieces that I've matched with what he's wearing." Maia had the chance to choose from four different dresses. She had the beautiful and sexy 'Florette' gown from the Walter Collection. With it being presented to her first, she was immediately in love with it. She was then shown two gowns from Nicolas Jebran, which were immediate declines. Finally, she was showed a sexy, skintight dress by none other than Michael Costello. The gown presented with just the right amount of sexy and mystery.
