Jen's P.O.V.
"You ready to go, Josh?" Asks Josh's dad as he grabs a duffel bag full of Josh's clothes. Earlier in the day his doctor cleared him and is allowing Josh to go home.
"Uh, yeah. Are we bringing Jen home, too?" Josh asks.
"Yup! It was so nice of her to stay with you these past few days, wasn't it Josh?" His mom asks him as he sneaks a smile at me. She turns to me, adding, "Thank you so much, Jen."
"It wasn't a problem!" I reply happily. And it's true. It sure wasn't a problem to be spending so much time with Josh.
"Alright, let's go." Josh's dad tells us. We all begin to follow him out the door, Josh and I trailing behind.
"Hey, wait." Josh says softly.
"What?" I respond, looking up at him.
"Thanks for hanging out with me this week. I enjoyed being with you." He pulls me into an embrace then plants a kiss on my forehead. I start to blush.
"Me, too." I confess. Josh grabs my hand before we head out the door. We just make it to the elevator that his parents are in as the doors are closing. They give each other knowing smiles, but they don't say anything.
A few minutes later we exit the hospital's front doors and walk to the Hutchersons' car. I take a seat next to Josh in the back since his parents are up front. I can tell Josh is nervous to be back in a car so I hold his hand the entire ride. Whenever we come to an abrupt stop or take a sharp turn, he closes his eyes and squeezes my hand. It hurts me to see him like this.
In about 30 minutes we arrive at my house. I thank Josh's parents for the ride and tell Josh I'll text him later. Before I leave the car Josh gives me a kiss on the cheek. I'm on cloud nine for the rest of the day.

"Hey!"
"Hey back!" Josh says when he picks up the phone.
"How are you feeling?" I ask.
"Great, now that I'm talking to you."
"I'm being serious, Josh." He chuckles before responding.
"I'm actually feeling pretty good."
"Good." I say. "What's up?"
"Just laying in bed. My mom flips out every time I get up to do something. I can't even go get a glass of water!"
"Really? Isn't it nice that everyone's catering to you?"
"I guess." He responds.
"Oh, please. Don't act like you don't enjoy it." I tease.
"Oh, whatever. So, what are you doing next Friday?"
"Me?"
"No, the other Jen I'm currently talking to on the phone." He replies sarcastically. "Yeah, you. Do you have plans?"
"No. I have no friends."
"Lies." Josh laughs. "But anyway, do you want to go do something? I have a surprise planned."
"Well, how can I say no to a surprise? I'd love to go." I tell Josh.
"Great. Hold on-yeah mom, I'm fine. Alright, let me just say bye to Jen. That was my mom. My family's here for dinner so I've got to go. I'll talk to you later."
"Oh, alright. Have fun. Bye."
"Bye, cutie." I begin to blush after he hangs up; Josh is the sweetest. And I can't wait for Friday now. I wonder what he has planned. . .
