The city was quiet tonight, which should be a good thing, but right now, Peter wished it wouldn't be. It's been a month since it all happened, since Mysterio told the whole world, since Doctor Strange made the spell, since he learned about the multiverse, but it all felt pointless now, because it's also been a month since he decided to do the right thing. To erase every memory everyone had of him, including his best friends, including MJ.
Since then Peter started over, he found a place where the rent wasn't high, a part time job that wasn't demanding and a rooftop to spend the nights on, looking for troubles the neighborhood friendly spiderman could help with.
But this night was quiet, which should be a good thing, but right now, Peter just wanted to do something, get his mind off of thinking. So much happened in the last month, well, actually, so much happened a month ago, so less happened since then.
On quiet nights like this Peter couldn't help but wonder, what if, what if everyone still remembered, that Peter Parker is spiderman, would everyone still hate him? Or would it change because he showed them the real him, the good he can do. What if Ned and MJ would remember that they were his best friends, that MJ loves him. Loved.
What if doctor strange would have remembered, would they fight crime together? Maybe he could live at his place, it was so big that Peter was sure
What if May would still be here, Peter thought a lot about aunt May, the look on her eyes, the last seconds she-
Sirens.
Peter's head jerked to his left, bingo. He saw three police cars following a car that swifted through the streets way faster than she should've. Peter put on his mask.
"Hey Karen" Peter now saw the city through the mask, every jump calculation, every crack in the step walk.
"Hello Peter" Karen's voice echoed "what are we doing tonight?"
The last nights Peter had talked to Karen about everything, mostly because it was nice to say it all to someone. The guys in the electronic store, the place he worked throughout the days, were nice, but it's not like he could share the feeling of being forgotten by everyone who ever knew you.
"Whatever that is" Peter replied, shooting webs to the nearest building,
making his way closer to the car.The car moved fast, but it seemed that the police cars knew what they're doing. Peter missed dealing with big things. Not that he complained, he was happy to help with whatever. He had to build his name from the beginning, only now he had this awesome suit and a bit more experience.
"Please stop the car," the sirens blended with the megaphone of the police car when Peter made his way, now following the cars, hanging from the light poles. When Peter stepped on the escaping car it stopped, followed by the three cars behind. The man came out of the car with his gun pointed at him, confusion written all over his face.
That was the hardest part of no one knowing spiderman, the fact that it suddenly felt stupid and childish to dress up like this.
"Who are you?" The man shouted, threatening to shoot at Peter. "Well I'm spiderman!" Peter shot his web around the man's hands, making him drop the gun, "so nice of you to ask" Peter went on.
The police officers walked out the cars with their guns up, some of them pointing at the man, some of them at Peter. "Hey! That's the guy I was telling you about!" One of the officers said. "That's the spider-hero I told you about! See? I'm not making this up!"
Peter recognized him from a few nights ago, he stopped some robbery in the local mini market, once the police showed up Peter already had the guy glued up to the wall with his hands spread to the sides.
"Hey officers," Peter put his hand up "I'm spiderman, nice to meet you all!" Some of the police officers put their guns down, trusting the boy. "The web will melt in like two hours" he motioned to the bad guy behind him, "but you can handcuff him too if that what you want."
"Wait, so," the officer at the front said, "what are you? Like a superhero or something?"
"Um.. yeah I guess you can say that" Peter said embarrassed, that was no denying that when Tony was in the picture, when he stood by him it all just made sense, he's with the Stark guy.
The officers put the man in handcuffs and put him in the car. "Well then, thank you I guess" said the officer. Peter saw the one who remembered him jumping in his place, "man you're the coolest! Go spiderman!" He said with his fist up. Peter laughed, "thank you sir! Have a good night folks, and hit me up if something shows up" Peter was about to get going, but then turned around, "or I'll just be there, whatever." And with that he shot himself up to the sky, getting back to his place. He heard behind that officer laughing, "I told you!" He boasted at the rest of them.
Peter laughed once again, he missed this, he missed spiderman, and he was starting to come back.
