"Do you think Jungkook got another job and just forgot to tell me?" Jimin asked Bam. "He doesn't come home at the same time anymore. Sometimes, he doesn't come home at all. He's such a hard worker. I wish I could get a job and help him out."
It had been about a week since Jungkook had gone to the party. When he came back the next day, he acted like everything was fine. He didn't tell Jimin anything. Since Jimin trusted Jungkook with everything in his being, he didn't ask.
Jungkook was distant, detached. Their goodbye, hello, good morning, and goodnight kisses weren't the same. That is, if Jungkook gave them at all. The same could be said for their cuddles, but Jimin trusted Jungkook and didn't want to push him. Consent is important, Jimin reminded himself, remembering the lesson Jungkook taught him, I shouldn't force him.
"He said it was okay. He said I'm enough... So why does it feel like I'm the one that's the problem?" Jimin whispered, pulling his knees into his chest.
Like usual, he was waiting for Jungkook to message him during his breaks. But Jimin supposed the younger one was too busy, being the hard worker that he was. He hadn't taken nearly as much time messaging Jimin. When he did, his texts were short, concise. They lacked emojis. They lacked personality. They were dry, usually telling Jimin whether or not he'd be coming home.
But Jimin stopped even expecting those messages anymore.
"I miss Jungkook, Bam. Is that fair for me to say?" Jimin sighed, covering his eyes. "I wish I could sleep. I wish I could stop thinking."
Hoseok clenched his fist. He wanted to tell everything to Jimin about what he witnessed at the party, but he also didn't want to add fuel to the fire.
"Jimin doesn't deserve to be treated like this."
Exhaling, Jimin went to Jungkook's contact and looked at their conversations for a while before deciding to message him, forgoing salutations because if Jungkook was going to text him with one word or fragmented responses, then he probably didn't have time to read Jimin's messages.
