note(sorry for not updating in years it feels like this one is from 2022 this one was taken from other sources information)

The ultimate productivity hack is saying NO, for example, no meeting or something is faster than having no meeting at all, or in other words not doing something is always faster than doing it the same philosophy can be put to other parts of life to

I mean how many people have asked you to do something and you say yeah I will do it or something like that right? and maybe three days later your to-do list is filled with work this is one of the disadvantages to saying yes saying no can be more productive than the most efficient person can muster if the logic is so obvious that saying no is better than yes than why do we say yes!

Why do we say yes

we agree to many requests because we don't want to be thought of as a rude or arrogant person

to your spouse or friend or a loved one (not to mention we need their help sometimes too)

For this reason, it can be helpful to be gracious in your response. Do whatever favors you can, and be warm-hearted and direct when you have to say no.

But even after we have accounted for these social considerations, many of us still seem to do a poor job of managing the tradeoff between yes and no. We find ourselves over-committed to things that don't meaningfully improve or support those around us, and certainly don't improve our own lives.

Perhaps one issue is how we think about the meaning of yes and no.

The massive difference between our yes and no

The words "yes" and "no" get used in comparison to each other so often that it feels like they carry equal weight in conversation. In reality, they are not just opposite in meaning, but of entirely different magnitudes in commitment.

when you say no to one option when you say yes you say know all the other options

when you say yes you have decided how the future block of time will be spent

In other words, saying no saves you time in the future. Saying yes costs you time in the future. No is a form of time credit. You retain the ability to spend your future time however you want. Yes is a form of time debt. You have to pay back your commitment at some point.

no is a decision yes is a responsibility

The role of No

saying no is seen as a luxury only people with power and it is true :

turning down opportunities is easier when you can fall back on the safety net provided by power, money, and authority. But it is also true that saying no is not merely a privilege reserved for the successful among us. It is also a strategy that can help you become successful.

saying no is a very important part of careers but there are ways to solve these problems like when to say no for example logic and secondly the Hell Yeah and no method which is if we like to do it at heart then do it put it on your to-do list but if no then don't it will just waste your time this is personally a popular method but let's talk about upgrading your no

upgrading your no

overtime lets well, for example, say you pretty much mastered the most basics over time the opportunity cost of your time adds up which is time to get to know how to say no to previously good opportunities and say yes to great opportunities you still need to say no to distractions obviously but also good opportunities, in other words, saying no preserves the opportunity to say yes

The conclusion

More effort is wasted doing things that don't matter than is wasted doing things inefficiently. And if that is the case, elimination is a more useful skill than optimization.

The conclusion

I am reminded of the famous Peter Drucker quote, "There is nothing so useless as doing efficiently that which should not be done at all."
