Can the gods dictate how much a life costs? Can they judge the value of a star?

Gusion leaned on the couch, the letter crumpled on his hold as Guinevere's stiff and cold body laid on his lap. He feels so numb as he stares at nothingness, his icy blue eyes blankly staring at nowhere. He gently brushed her ginger locks from her face as he whispered assurances and apologies under his breathe, falling in deaf ears for she is no longer in this world...

"So-Sonata?"

He didn't bother to raise his gaze to Wanwan who is fidgeting with her skirt, light tears streaming down her eyes. She tried to approach him a while ago and talk to him but he didn't acknowledge her for even one bit. He's just there, sitting in existence, placing the world behind him. Ling is still outside, probably looking after the king who he skinned alive. Now that Gusion thinks about it, he doesn't care anymore if he is still alive or dead. His life meant nothing to him now. Even if he tortures him for eternity, Guinevere and Harith will never return this time.

Dark clouds loomed outside the windows, covering the sky darkly  seemingly sympathizing with the emotions whirling inside him. What a sick joke the heavens are doing to him. It seems like another storm is about to hit the forest. For once in his life, Gusion loved the storm. It was the weather that witnessed how he took Guinevere for the first time in this life... this time, he can't feel those emotions (giddy, happy, contentment).

Starting from this day on, this weather would remind him of this fateful day.

He closed his eyes as the door of their home (that no longer feels that way) opened and gently closed. He can feel another pair of eyes watching him intently but Gusion didn't bother to acknowledge it.

"What have you done?" Gusion can feel the onslaught of sadness, pity, and anger at the same time from Ling's tone. His voice was raised and not the usual calm and soothing.

"I killed them." Gusion replied to him blankly, now looking at the dark clouds that started to emit thunders while his hands continued to trail over Guinevere's tresses.

"Su-Surely you saved Guinevere's mother... Zi-Zilong... and my father too, r-right?" Wanwan asked him with a shaky voice.

"I didn't." Gusion directed to the point as thunder boomed on the sky, "I burned them all. Every single breathing being in the town, I killed them."

Wanwan gasps and staggered as Ling supported her back. She embraced him as sobs passed her lips. Ling's eyes were widened in shock and anger from what he heard, his mouth opening and close yet his voice and words would not leave his throat.

"Why?" She asks him with a strangled sob. "Zilong is your friend... Guinevere's too..."

"Their lives have no value."

The same way Guinevere's life have no value for the gods. Gusion gritted his teeth, cursing the heavens and gods on his head. He glared at the windows where the darkened skies can be clearly seen. He hates them so much. If he could just climb in heaven and choke the gods one by one... he would have done so. Especially the lady of light... Fuck her! Gusion will kill her if he caught a sight of her no matter the consequences of said actions.

He will not hesitate.

"How can you just say that?! Those are innocent people you killed!" Ling bellowed at him, anger and disbelief from what he just heard as Wanwan cried harder.

"Are they?" Gusion asks him coldly this time again, "Doesn't matter. The dead will not come back to life. Guinevere will not return nor will my son. They left me..."
