2 weeks later

Shante: *sharply inhales*

Jonathan: What? What's wrong?

Shante: Chill. The baby's just kicking.

Jonathan: Oh.

Shante: You wanna feel?

Jonathan: Uh...sure.

Shante: I mean you don't have to if you don't want to-

Jonathan: No, no, I want to.

Shante: Ok.

Shanté's POV

He slowly places his hand on my stomach & relaxes his hand. I move it to where the baby is kicking & he flinches a little before looking at me with a weird look

Jonathan: & you feel that shit constantly?

Shante: Yeees. This baby does nothing but kick. Pretty sure the baby's gonna come out a track star just like their dad.

I stop & look at him in embarassment

Shante: U-Um-

Jonathan: *softly chuckles* Well from what I've heard you used to be a fast runner too till what? Middle school?

Shante: How do you know that? *nervously chuckles*

Jonathan: Your dad & I used to talk daily. *chuckles*

Shante: When was the last time you talked to him? ...I still haven't told him about...you know.

Jonathan: I figured. Last time we spoke was a few weeks ago. We don't talk as much anymore because I have such a busy schedule. We'll talk maybe once or twice a month.

Shante: Oh.

Jonathan: Yeah.

I remember I have to take my maternity pictures tomorrow & I've been tempted to ask him but I'm afraid he'll say no. ...maybe it won't hurt to see...I won't ask, I'll just mention it

Shanté: ...hey. So I'm taking my maternity pictures tomorrow..

Jonathan: Oh you are?

Jonathan's POV

My feelings are a little hurt because she didn't tell me sooner. I want to be there with her but...we aren't together so I understand why she didn't say anything

Shanté: Yeah. I have a friend who does maternity shoots.

Jonathan: That's cool.

Shanté's POV

I see disappoint in his face & wonder if he wanted to come..I'd ask him but maybe he doesn't. Maybe....I don't know

Shanté: Um..I heard from this article that in the third trimester, the baby can really begin to hear voices outside the womb.

Jonathan: Really?
