Being claimed was the worst thing that ever happened to me.

Just because my mom was the goddess of chaos, they all seemed to be staring at me, but not in admiration. The weary glances were filled to the brim with, well...weariness. Like I was some sort of monster instead of a camper.

And the cage was the worst part. Well...not exactly cage, but it was just as bad.

A small, excruciatingly claustrophobic white room, with no windows and only a sleeping bag for decor. And the isolation from other campers twenty-four seven.

My only friend was Seth, and we were growing strangely closer, like we were the same person instead of individuals.

He was the only camper brave enough to train with me, next to Nico di Angelo, and (Y/n), and the seven from the last great prophecy, stating, "It isn't your fault who your mom is. You deserve a fair chance."

I, under no condition, do not deserve a fair chance. I'm not sure if I should even be alive, much less deserve a chance of any kind.

"What are you thinking about?" Seth's voice calls me out of my daze. I blinked.

"Uh...not much." I crossed my legs and grabbed my pack full of stuff, set it inside the crook of my right leg, and started to dig around, looking for a book I haven't read yet.

Before you start to nag me about demigod not being able to read because they're dyslexic, I better tell you that the books I have are reprinted into ancient Greek and French. Please, don't ask.

My hand finally wraps around a French copy of 'The Argonauts,' by a really famous guy called Homer or something. I pull it out and open the book to the first page, not really reading, just skimming and not really trying to focus on the words.

My head was racing a mile a minute, and my ADHD was worse than ever, tapping on the book, brushing my bangs behind my ear.

"Ah, KJ?" Seth sounded weary. I glanced over at him. "What is it, Seth?"

"Eyes...?"

Once I realized what I'd done, I gasped and swept my bangs back over my eye quickly. "Sorry! Sorry!"

He seemed frozen for a sec. Then his features softened, and he smiled at me.

"Haven't yet controlled that little gift?"

I gave him a crooked smirk. "Not yet. But I will use it on you if I have to."

"Glad you have defenses."

"Me too."

I smiled at him again. Seth's eyes glittered happily, like he was hanging with his best friend. The bright green depths were almost like jewels. Beautiful, mysterious. And the way his hair curled when he was happy, so you could almost see the magic flickering between each tendrils of black. It was magnificent.

Oh my gods...I just realized I might be falling for him.
