Robo walks close behind me as I make my way home from school.

"How do you humans manage? Sitting in a small room for hours, listening to pointless lectures?" Robo yawns to show his boredom and walks beside me.

"At least I have a new teacher now, the old one had such a monotone voice. It made me hate his class even more than before he was a teacher." I roll my eyes at the memory of him. To be fair, we did get a free period since he wasn't there to teach that day.

"What happened to him? Did he die?" Robo seems like he already knows what happened to him.

"He was my first kill with the Death Note, Haruki Tanaka. He died of a heart attack." Robo seems even more interested than before.

"Aren't you only using the Death Note to kill criminals? What was the point of killing him? Did he do something against the law or were you just bored?" God, Robo asks a lot of questions.

"I killed him before I decided what I was going to use the Death Note for. He was going to be my first test but I got bored and didn't want to wait until the next day so I killed off someone on the news, that's how I discovered that the Death Note actually worked." I kind of regret killing him, Kira probably wouldn't approve of that death.

"So he never did anything illegal?" Robo asks, falling a little behind me again.

"No. He was just annoying as Hell." I grunt and walk a little faster. Robo is getting annoying with his constant pestering.

"Speaking of Hell, I forgot to tell you that anyone who uses the Death Note can neither go to Heaven or Hell." I stop walking and look back at Robo.

"Where do they go then?" Robo stares right at me when he answers.

"I'll leave you to find that out yourself, when the time comes. And when it does, I'll be the one to write your name in my own Death Note." He gives me a toothy grin (creepy as hell since his teeth look like rocks). I ignore him and keep walking.

Mom greets me at the door when I get home. I smile and I'm about to pass her when I remember what happened today.

"Oh, I got the results from the Nationwide Exams today." I take the paper out of my backpack and hand it to her.

"Amazing job, you did just as good as Light. He's in his room if you want to go congratulate him. I'm sure he'll be just as happy as me to find out how good you did." She pats me on the back and then walks back to the living room, sitting down on the couch. I smile and start walking upstairs. For a second I consider telling Light about my high scores but his room Light is off so I assume he went to bed early. As I walk into my room, Robo closes the door for me.

"Thanks Robo." I set my backpack down and sit down at my desk.

"You must have gotten pretty high scores for your mother to be that happy." He sits down on my bed and waits for me to answer.

"Yeah, I got the top scores. I need to have good grades if I want to get into To-Oh University. It's one of the best universities in Japan after all." I can't tell if he's mocking me or not but I decide not to ask him. Instead, I take the Death Note out of my backpack and turn on my computer. The new Kira sites are actually pretty useful, there're a couple more now than when I first discovered them. Obviously I can't trust each name and some of the excuses are lame like "this person cheated off my test" or "this guy broke up with me over text". Those aren't crimes. When I do find the occasional person that has a listed crime, I make sure to look them up first in case the person is lying. I get out my pencil and flip to the next empty page of the Death Note.

"Hotaru, I've been wondering..." Robo interrupts my concentration and walks up so he's standing beside me.

"What is it, Robo?" I ask passive aggressively.

"What's with you and Kira? Why use the Death Note for someone else instead of yourself?" Robo tilts his head in a confused manner. I shrug and give a half hearted answer.

"I don't know. I guess it's similar to why you dropped your Death Note into the human world after seeing Ryuk do it." He seems satisfied with my answer and goes back to sit on my bed.

"What makes you ask?" I continue writing names as we talk.

Fumiko Kikumoto

"Well I've seen the Death Note used in many different ways but I've never seen it used for the interests of someone else."

Hikaru Tachi

"Interesting. I suppose most people would probably use it to help themself."

Iku Sawai

"That is true. A lot of the Shinigami I talk to who have dropped their notebooks before all have a similar story. The human usually uses it to get money or get something they want."

Hisoka Yoshino

"I guess that's the reason I like Kira so much. He decided to use the Death Note to kill evil people and make the world a better place. That's why I want to help him, he's unique."

Kano Okazaki

Our conversation comes to an end and I keep writing names in silence.

//Time Skip: 2 Days\\

For the past couple days, I've had a pretty set schedule of what I do. Go to school, come home, write names, go to the prep course, come home, study, sleep. It might sound boring but I have Robo to keep me company.

As I get home, mom is in the living room with Sayu, Light's probably in his room.

"Welcome home big brother!" Sayu shouts happily from the living room.

"Hey Sayu, hey mom." I wave and head upstairs. When I get to my room, I take out the Death Note and start writing names down. I don't have the prep course today so I'll have more time to study and write names in the Death Note.

About an hour passes and my doorknob wiggles. I jump up and hide the Death Note in my pillowcase. On the way to my room door I stop at my computer and exit out of the tabs I had opened. When I open the door, I see Sayu.

"Can you help me with my homework? You're so much better at it than me." She complains.

"Sorry but I'm busy. And I'm better than you because I'm older." I shut my door in her face.

"Fine, I'll just go ask Light then. Meanie!" Sayu shouts through my door and stomps away. I sigh and go back over to my desk. I guess I should start studying as well.
