Bookstore

I turn on my computer and open up dad's files. Apparently this time criminals had shown odd behavior before they died. Idiot Kira! He's basically just telling them that he can control people before they die. The events are rather confusing though, a satanic symbol, someone who ran to the bathroom, and a note. I read through the note carefully. After looking at it a couple different ways I notice a hidden phrase, 'L do you know'. Huh, interesting.

Light comes down stairs and waves at me.

"I'm going out for a date at Spaceland, have fun sitting around the house reading." Before I can say anything back, he's already out the door. I grumble and look back at my book, I'm on the last chapter. Who'd even want to go to Spaceland for a date? A bookstore would be so much cooler.

"No. No, no, no, no, no!" I slam my book closed and throw it across the couch.

"Uh, you okay?" Robo looks at my book and then back at me.

"No, I'm not okay! Daisuke wasn't supposed to get trapped by the dark warriors! Now it'll probably be another whole book before he gets to be with Kaito again!" I curl up in a ball and stare at the book hatefully.

"You okay Hotaru?" Sayu walks into the room and sees me curled up in a ball. She seems to see the book on the other side of the couch.

"Was it not a happy ending?" She walks over to the couch and pats me on the back. I brush her hand off and stand up.

"I'm going to the bookstore, I need the next book in this series." I walk out of the living room and to my room.

"You humans really like to read huh?" Robo asks as I put on a new outfit and grab my wallet.

"Not everyone does somehow. I definitely do though." I walk downstairs and say goodbye to Sayu before leaving the house. As I'm walking to the bookstore, I think about Light and his 'date'. He always gets dates, lucky. If I ever get a date, I hope it's at a bookstore with a really cute guy.

When I arrive at the bookstore, the smell of the café to the right fills my nose. Ah, the smell of coffee and books, my favorite combination.

As I sit down at a café table with my new book and some coffee, I notice Robo looking around.

"Why do you keep looking around like that?" I whisper under my breath to him.

"Your stalker's not here." I look up at him and shrug.

"He's probably following a different suspect, they might be short handed." I drink some of my coffee and then start reading my book.

I'm completely lost in the story when Robo's voice brings me back to reality.

"Hey, this is more boring than having to sit with you at school. Can we go home?" I roll my eyes and get up to pay for my coffee.

"At least here you can see people walk by, that has to be a bit more exciting than school, right?" I whisper to him as I walk out of the bookstore with my new book in hand.

"I guess it's a little better than your school." Robo sighs and walks behind me as we continue home.

When I get back, Light's sitting in the living room.

"How was your date, did you have fun?" I ask sarcastically.

"It was... interesting." He smirks a little as if laughing at an inside joke.

"Okay weirdo." I wave to him before going upstairs to my room.

After writing some names and studying for a bit, I pull up dad's files on my computer. Apparently a new note was found today. I looked at it the same way as the last one, 'Gods of death'. Is he trying to tell him that Shinigami exist? How stupid can he get? I turn off my computer and head over to my bed.

"Oh, it's sleepy time!" Robo went over to the window and sat down. Did he... just call it sleepy time?

When I wake up, it's already 11:23am. I guess that's what happens when it's not a school day. I laugh and sit up, rubbing the sleep out of my eyes. Robo's still sleeping so I walk over to him and kick him. He stands up immediately and stares me down.

"Why did you wake me up? I was having the best dream ever."

"Shinigami have dreams?" I raise my eyebrow suspiciously.

"Maybe. It's really none of your business." He turns his head away from me and I roll my eyes at him. I walk out of my room and head downstairs. Sayu is sitting on the couch looking over her homework.

"Hey Hotaru! Light left, he said he was going somewhere important. Can you help me with my homework since he's not here?"

"You know that you can't always get help with homework right?" I look at her and she starts making puppy dog eyes.

"Pleaseee!!" She waves her homework in front of her.

"Fine." I sit down and start helping Sayu with her homework.
