"I pronounce thee as Husband and Wife," the Priest announces, a pause between Jun and his new spouse as we see them gently laugh under their breath and lean in for a short, yet sweet kiss. The crowd abrupts into applause, followed by the sound of bells ringing, and the subtle sniffles from Mr. and Mrs. Kim. I couldn't feel prouder seeing my best friend in one of his proudest moments, carefree and contented.
After all that, he definitely deserves to be able to settle down and start his own family. The same goes for his parents who can enjoy the joy of their early retirement and spend more time with their future grandchildren. I looked over in Jun's direction and we caught each other's gazes. His eyes beamed with triumph and threw hand signs in the air which made us both chuckle under our breaths.
The newly wedded couple enthusiastically walked down the aisle, leading outside of the cathedral. There were more rounds of applause that erupted the minute the newlywed was by the cathedral's doors. There were doves that were released, followed by a rain of pearly white floral petals that danced along with the gentle spring breeze. The chauffeur was patiently waiting by the bottom of the stairs, smiling at Jun and his wife. We all watched as Jun carefully assisted his wife to the car provided by the woman's family. I watched as Jun leaned in to whisper to the chauffeur's ear and saw him nod in response. Jun then walked over to his wife's side and also said something to her. There was a slight disappointment in her eyes but it was later followed by a soft gaze towards him. She nodded as well and the chauffeur started the engine, rolling out of the cathedral's driveway. People also started walking toward their vehicles and I couldn't help but wonder why Jun had let his wife go ahead instead of coming with her to the wedding reception.
I hollered over in Jun's direction."Hey, what's up?" Jun said.
"Why'd you let Soobin go first?" I replied. He let out a sigh, "I had to."
I never anticipated his answer, rather, felt worried. "I need to take precautions over this situation," he muttered, subtly looking around the area. I was confused at first as to why he was acting so until I saw what he meant. From the distance, I saw what seemed to be Dami's group disguised in fine dark suits. For a normal person, you'd assume they were a group of esteemed people, acting as guests on an occasion. But for people like Jun and me, Dami's group was under the notion of someone else's commands. Granted there was no actual bad blood between them and us, somehow our fates were twisted and led to where we are right now."This is probably another one of Dami's tactics, but I can't be too sure about it," Jun said.
"So what are you going to do then?" I asked him.
"I have nothing on the spot right now but I would like to keep an eye on them for a bit," he replied, gently ruffling his hair into frustration."Let me know if you need help," I said.
"Thanks a bunch, Sangwoo," he responded, patting the back of my shoulder."For now let's just enjoy the day, shall we?" he continued, adjusting his suit and walking towards Taerin and his parents.
----
The afternoon went by pretty fast. As per usual.
There was music, excellent catering, and most importantly, the location of the wedding reception. It was certainly by far one of the most scenic places we have been to. The way it overlooked both the city and parts of the ocean was astounding, to say the least. The area was somewhat secluded from other infrastructures but it gave a solemn atmosphere to it.
Over the horizon, the sun was slowly going down, creating these breathtaking views. I quickly took out my phone and went ahead taking pictures of the scene in front of me. That was when I realized Taerin was in the frame, leaning on the railings of the patio. I took a moment to look at her and how glamouring she was in the frame. I watched as the breeze gently brushed through her.
My heart skipped a beat when she turned around and noticed me. I swiftly put my phone away and awkwardly coughed. I heard her chuckle before looking back to the horizon. I slowly walked over to her side and gently leaned towards the railings as well.
"It's beautiful, isn't it?" Taerin commented. I stood silent.
"Reminds me of when Jun and I were younger," She continued. I heard her shuffle positions, "Tell me Sangwoo," I looked at her with her back facing the sunset, towards the door.
