When she walks into the kitchen and sees him attempting to cook bacon, she holds her hand over her mouth to stifle her laughter.
"Fuck," he mutters as the grease pops up and burns him, and he groans in frustration.
"Stupid," he says, and she stifles her laughter again as he continues to verbally abuse the bacon in the pan.
Eventually, after being burned multiple times, he manages to cook himself breakfast and she moves to sit next to him at the kitchen table.
"I can't believe you managed to cook yourself a meal," she says in amazement. "I don't think I've ever seen you not burn something before."
He hums as he chews his mouthful of food, seemingly impressed with himself.
"I find it rather rude that you didn't make me any, but I suppose I can forgive you since I'm not very hungry," she teases, not surprised when he doesn't respond to her.
She smiles at her boyfriend fondly before a terrifying thought enters her mind, effectively wiping any trace of happiness from her features.
He cooked for himself this morning.
He didn't need her to cook for him as she's done every day since they moved in together.
Is he trying to learn how to live without her?
Is he trying to move on?
