MOUTHPIECE POV

Todays the day.

Rumble day.

I said I'd meet Y/N at the diner, and I had a shift, so that's exactly where I was headed.

"Good Mornin' Mista' Y/L/N" I said as he looked me up and down and smirked, wider than I've ever seen. He leaned over his elbows on the counter and looked up "So... how was your date with my daughter? She seemed to enjoy herself."

"Uh, the date went really well actually. Thank you for setting us up Mista. We'se actually planning on seeing each other tonight." I said with a faint smile.

"Really? You are? I really didn't think she would like you this much." He laughed.

"What do ya mean?" I asked.

"She just doesn't take to a lot of people, you know?" He said. I suddenly felt a small pang of pride wash over me as I realized this.

"Stop your smiling and go take some orders" He scolded with a small smile behind his eyes.

"Will do"

A FEW HOURS LATER

It was near the end of my shift, near the time I needed to be meeting up with the Jets. I heard the bell ring and decided this would be my last customer of the day. I didn't look them in the eye as I greeted them, fumbling with my notepad.

"Hello, what can I get ya?" I asked getting my pen out.

"A kiss maybe?"

"Huh- Y/N!" She stood up and I embraced her in a hug.

"Mista Y/L/N I'm heading home! Have a good night!" I said as I gripped Y/Ns hand and brought her out the door of the diner.

"I'm still waiting on that kiss" She laughed.

"Of course madame," I said as we shared a sweet embrace until we heard shouting and detached our lips to see where it was coming from.

Down the block, I could see Jet, Action, and Riff all sprinting while Krumpke was hot on their ass.

"MOUTHY RUN" Action screamed.

I grabbed Y/Ns forearm and bolted down the street a few blocks until I found an alley and pulled her in behind a dumpster.

"Wha-"

"Shush" I whisper shouted as footsteps ran past us at the opening of the alleyway.

"What was that about?" She asked as she made sure the coast was clear.

"The coppers fishin' is all"

"You sure about that?" She quirked an eyebrow.

"Positive"

"Listen, walk with me, yeah? I gotta meet up with my guys at docs." I paused.

"YOU SHOULD MEET THEM ALL!" I said getting excited.

"Then lets go" She laughed.

The walk to docs was short and sweet. I saw most of the boys inside already with beers in hand, laughing and having a grand time. Just as I was about to open the door for Y/N, Riff walked up, fuming. "No chicks allowed" He spewed. "C'mon Riff" I tried reasoning. He stopped in the doorway and slowly turned around. He inched his way towards Y/N as my grip around her waist tightened.

"GET. LOST." He screamed in her face. I felt her cringe as I pulled her away from him.

"Look, he's a jackass, I promise you I will be careful at the rumble princess." I leaned in and planted a small kiss on her jaw.

"You better." She said seriously, but a small smile was there if you looked hard enough.

"I'll see you after?" She asked.

"Deal" I kissed her once more and she engulfed me in a hug.

"Good luck" she whispered in my ear.

IN THE MIDDLE OF THE RUMBLE

Riff is dead.

Riff is dead.

Riff is dead.

RIFF IS DEAD!

BERNARDO. IS. DEAD!

I saw a shark in my clear path and I charged at him. I was fighting back tears at this point. Riff is dead. Bernardo is dead. Two people are dead. Two people who didn't deserve to die are dead. I took all my pain and anger out on whoever It was in front of me. I'm sure he was doing the exact same thing to me because I felt all sorts of bruises forming all over my body. I felt blood on my fists, from punches, blood in my mouth, blood trickling down my face. We were all finally broken out of our trance by police sirens but it changes nothing. Not to mention I wasn't careful at all either. Damn, this feels like a kick to the teeth, probably because I had gotten one.
