The Lead Up To The Party

"N/NNNN,hurry uppppp!" Ranpo whines from outside the bathroom door. "Im not going." I said as I stated at myself in the mirror in disgust. "Why not?" He asks"everyone is expecting us!" He exclaims from the other side. "I'm aware. But I'm not going. You can go on ahead." Ranpo lets out a groan"whhhhhy don't you wanna gooooo?" He was beginning to act like a child. "I dont...feel well is all." I lied. Truthfully,I was disgusted with how I looked. I had always struggled with my self esteem. Sometimes I'd feel pretty and like a bad b*tch,and then other times I would feel ugly. Which right now,is one of those times. "No that's a lie. I'm not dumb N/N. Tell me what's wrong." The reason I was having really low self esteem right now was because we were going to a party hosted by the Agency. Both the Port Mafia Director and our Director got better and the whole mess was quickly resolved. And for the party,it was required that everyone dresses nice. Sure I wasn't wearing a dress or skirt,I was just wearing a nice shirt and some pants,yet I still felt ugly. "It's nothing Ranpo. I just don't-"

"Stop lying to me Y/N. I'm not dumb. Now tell me what's actually wrong!" I slammed the door open and tugged at my clothes"this is the issue! Everything about me is the issue!" Ranpo seemed taken back. "Ranpo I'm so f*cking ugly. I don't understand why you or anyone would want to be with somebody like me!" Ranpo quickly placed his lips on me,my eyes were wide. "I think you look stunning." He admits pulling away. "Besides don't worry to much about it,almost everyone is probably going to be to drunk to remember anything." It was obvious he was probably lying to make me feel better. I mean,Ranpo has body shammed me before. With a nod I replied. "Ok..."he smiles and grabs my hands"now smile for me my dear! Everything is ok! Let's just go and have fun,alright?" I nod again as he lets go of my hands and begins to walk towards the front door. He may be lying right now,but maybe that's all I needed to feel better about myself. I shut the light off and slipped on some shoes,Ranpo as well,and then we left. False hope.

"I wonder what kind of food they'll have. Oh! Do you think they'll have sweets?!" Ranpo exclaims as we walk towards the train station. "I don't see why they wouldn't. It is a party after all." Ranpo was dressed a lot nicer than me. He wasn't wearing anything to fancy,just a button up long sleeved shirt,a tie,some dress shoes and pants. "Yosano is going to be the drunkest. I'm calling it now." Ranpo claims"I don't know Ranpo...I might be the drunkest by the end of the night." He looks to me"you,Y/N M/N L/N,drinking? Yea that's a nice joke." Ranpo laughs"I'm being serious. I've gotten drunk before. I mean,I started that rumor." His laughter ceased"oh yea,I forgot about that."

"Already?!" I yelled"ok but besides that,when was another time you got drunk? And I don't mean stupid drunk like that time." "The last time I got drunk was when Tanizaki was still new to the agency. It was the day before Atsushi's entrance exam. Kunikida,Tanizaki,Dazai and I all headed to a bar and got a few drinks,besides Tanizaki of course. But anyway,I got a few drinks and well,you can guess what happened after that." He nods"how come nobody told me?" I shrugged"you were out of town the day of Atsushi's entrance exam,remember? I suppose people just forgot to tell you. Oh yea,I got a story for you! When everyone was trying to come up with a entrance exam for Atsushi,you wanna know what Naomi had the nerve to say?" He hums"she said we should f*ck him!" I laughed as he places a hand over his mouth.

"On god?! She said that?!" I nodded"yea! Can you imagine if we went with that?!" Ranpo snickered"the boy would be so traumatized." "For real though!" Ranpo and I continued our chat all the way until we reached the location of the party. We talked about whatever we wanted and just had fun. It was a really fun night spent with friends.
