"'Murder association'?" Yosano asks as she looks to Kunikida. We were currently at the agency having a meeting about the new case,specifically the one Mushitaro told us not to take.

"Yes,this is a urgent request from the government. Firstly,the photographs." Kunikida says pointing to one of the bodies. His skin was peeled off and you could see his muscles,I shivered at the sight. "The victim was a young legislator in Yokohama. Five minutes after he excused himself,he was found like this." "How awful..."Atsushi trails off. Kunikida went on about the body as Yosano leaned her head in her hand"what a great hobby." She says rolling her eyes.

"The same perpetrator carried out four more crimes this week." "Four?!" Kunikida points to another victim picture. This time,their skin was melting off. "A deputy commander in the coast guard. He died once his flesh was melted off,down to the bone. The cause of death was shock from the pain." The next one was nothing but a bloody mess. "Next was the secretary to a general in the ministry of defense and the office of external security. They were killed when an air compressor got stuck to their mouth and forced extremely high air pressure inside them. This caused their blood and nerves to bust." The final one was a picture of a man in a padded room,blood seeped from his head and the words 'kill me' were written in blood above him. This one sounds like some Death Note type sh*t. "Finally a first class official from the military police and the Abilities Secret Services. He was locked in a hidden room and injected with a South American drug dubbed the 'suicide drug'. After scratching all the way down the bone,he died by banging his head against the wall." Concludes the blonde.

"I see...so this is a message from the 'Decay Of Angels',huh?" Ranpo hums as the door opens with the Director. "The 'Decay Of Angles'...here referring to the 'angels' as the highest rank in the Buddhist cycle. And five signs meant to indicate their death is imminent. Garments are soiled. Dirt and grease seep into the clothes. The flowery crown withers. The garland of the head wilts and rots away. The body's radiance fades. A filthy odor comes from the body. Axillary perspiration. Sweat pours from under the arms." Tanizaki then speaks up"so this a string of allusion murders?" Atsushi then speaks up in a panic. "Hold on a sec! There are only four cases!" Kunikida nods"exactly. Of the five signs,we haven't seen 'lack of delight in their heavenly throne'." "So then,the criminals will commit another murder?!" Atsushi exclaims.

"No,because we are going to stop them. We will summon all our strength and crush the enemies." Ranpo and I then spoke up. "I object." "That won't be happening." Fukuzawa turned to us"and why is that?" "our friend's last words." Ranpo simply says"so we refuse to take this job." I nodded at Ranpo's statement. "You two-"Fukuzawa starts"do you see the azusayumi in my office? It is an honor awarded once a century to the guardians of the people." Ranpo crosses his arms"just because they gave us something means we have to take the job?"

"That's not-"

"It's just a piece of wood." I could tell this was getting to Ranpo. "Decorations and praises are a little more than light showers to us. Even if we were petty thieves without fame or glory,we put our lives on the line to stop this murderer." Ranpo stood up and turned on his heel,making his way towards the door. "THEN DO WHATEVER YOU WANT!" He screams as he walks out and slams the door behind him. Suddenly everyone turned to me,as if to ask why he was acting like this. "I understand this is all confusing for you." I start as I stand up"but we are doing this for a good reason. Ranpo doesn't lash out often. I think we all know this. So just...think it over as to why he's doing this." I walk over to the door"I'll be taking my leave now. Have a nice rest of your day everyone."
