Your POV:
"Call us if you have any questions, and we'll see you in a few weeks. Okay?" You said to your client that you just finished examining and dismissing soon after. They were the last patient for the day, and you were set to leave pretty soon if all went well. Working on your birthday was no big deal, but what was a bigger deal was that the bundle of joy known as your husband Alfred entered your workplace asking for your whereabouts. The hospital staff knew of Alfred and nicknamed him 'the golden retriever'.
You see him down the hallway talking to the receptionist, and he spots you from the corner of his eye. "(Y/n), there you are!" Alfred set down the basket he was carrying, ran towards you, and engulfed you in his arms, lifting you off the ground. "Did you think you could escape me on your special day?
You feel a bone or two pop. "I... tried..." You gasped, patting his arm, signaling him to release you as you were losing air by the second.
"Oh, sorry!" He let go and straightened you out. Alfred lifted the basket. "For you! I hope you like it!"
"You're so sweet, Alfred. Thank you." You scanned both directions. "Let's get going. I can open the gift back at home if that's alright."
"Fine by me, dudette!"
>>>>>>
Alfred oversaw your movements as you uncovered the basket and saw what it contained inside.
A mini first aid kit, new scrubs, stress relief candles, and a realistic heart replica inside a glass case. "Oh, wow, Alfred! You went all out!" You said, examining each gift with detail, but the one that stood out the most was the glass case heart. "Alfred?" You questioned, holding the case in your hands.
"Yes?" He replied in a puppy tone voice.
"This heart is extremely accurate, almost too accurate..." You pause. "It's fake, right?"
"Kinda?"
You sighed. "Do I even want to know?"
"Do you?"
"Only to know nothing illegal occurred for a birthday gift."
"Okay, fine." He grabbed the case and grinned. "The heart inside of here is none other than yours truly."
"What?!" You screamed, shaking him by his shoulders.
"Wait, dudette! It's not what you think!"
You stop and hear him out.
"I got my heart scanned and was able to create a replica of it, so I put it in this glass case. Since you're a doctor and all, and you guys are experts at knowing vital parts of the human body, I wanted you to have this. Because it's a reminder that my heart and all my internal organs belong to you."
"Aw, Alfie. Thank goodness!" You chuckled and pecked his cheek.
"I like being praised..." He bashfully gushed over you. "And this is just the beginning!" Alfred picked you up in the air. "Get ready 'cause we're going out to eat!"
>>>>>>
You two arrived at a popular 50's themed diner and went inside.
"Cool!" You exclaimed and followed Alfred's lead as he eyed down a free table.
"This brings back memories..." He said, reaching for your hand across the table.
"Like taking girls on dates at places like this, huh?" You teased, playing with his hand.
"W-what? No!" His face turned bright red at your comment. "I never went out with anyone..." He mumbled, coughing, and changed the subject. "Order whatever and as much as you want, (Y/n). My treat, of course." Alfred handed you a small menu.
You smile and nod. "Okay, if you say so."
You saw a waitress approaching the table. "Hello, kids! Welcome to the Sweet Home! What can I get started for you two?"
Alfred motions toward you.
"We'll have two deluxe meals and a large chocolate milkshake, please."
"You got it!" The waitress wrote down the order and excused herself to place the order.
>>>>>>
"So good!" You exclaim happily, bouncing in your seat while savoring the gourmet burger and fries.
Alfred nodded in agreement, unable to talk with the amount of food in his mouth. Though the meal was filling, there was always room for dessert, and that's where the milkshake fit right into place.
You were given two straws, and you and Alfred shared its chocolatey goodness.
Alfred couldn't help but giggle at what was happening, which made you laugh. You two finished the drink and stared lovingly at each other. "That was my first time sharing a milkshake." He admitted.
"Same here." You confessed.
"Want to continue the party after this?" Alfred asks curiously, wiggling an eyebrow.
"What do you have planned now, hero~?"
>>>>>>
Alfred drove to a drive-in movie playing and parked in the back. Not too far from the screen but far enough to get some privacy.
"Thank you for today." You blush, looking in his direction. "Making me feel like a teenager again was another great gift."
"It was nothing! I'm glad you had a good time." He turns to face you and flashes a smile.
There was a brief moment of silence.
"Want to make out?" You ask casually.
"Yes, please!" He responds quickly, removing his glasses, setting them aside, and smashing his lips against yours.
Happy birthday to me!
