Your POV:

You peacefully read a book on the living room couch, awaiting Arthur's arrival from work. As you did, a wave of an unstable aura in the air flooded your senses. You set your book down and got up. Closing your eyes and felt the sensation right under the floor. You quickly headed downstairs to the basement and entered the potion room, where a bunch of fairies circled you.

"Miss (Y/n)! We bare terrible news!" One forest fairy exclaimed sadly.

"Shut it! We don't know that yet! The man is not here to defend himself!" Another scolded them, smacking their arm.

"Okay, settle down. Tell me, what's going on? I sensed a dark feeling over me. But is everyone alright?"

They all nod. "Yes, but it seems like it already reached you..." One said, taking hold of your hand and leading you to the cauldron that boiled a black and purple substance. It was nothing you'd ever seen before. "Are you sure you want to know what's occurring? It has to do with Master Kirkland..."

Those words formed a lump in your throat. You swallowed your fear and nodded in response.

They took a deep breath and revealed inside the pot a sight that would only appear in your worst nightmares. It showed Arthur with a woman you'd never seen before, and they were...

You whipped your head toward the fairy. "What is this?!" You exclaim in disgust.

"We're terribly sorry to inform you that the master is currently having an affair. According to our findings, it's been an ongoing thing originating a few months back. Perhaps even way before that." The fairy expressed, holding on to the tip of your finger.

You couldn't help but take a peek at the scene again and confirm it.

Yes, it was Arthur. No doubt about it.

"But why..?" You questioned in disbelief. "There haven't been any signs, nothing. How did he manage to hide it so well right under my nose..? I just..." You slumped slowly to the floor. "What did I do wrong? Did I fail to be a near-perfect wife?"

The magical creatures present consulted your state as best as they could. The emotions of a mortal were too overbearing for their little hearts to handle. That's when you all hear the front door open and close.

Arthur was home.

"Miss, what are you going to do?" They asked worryingly. Knowing how irrational you can be.

You remained silent, slipping the ring off your finger and handing it to one of them. "Take it. I won't be needing it from here on out. Burn to ash for all I care." You stated bitterly, walking upstairs and facing Arthur, who stood at the entrance.

"Hello, love. How was your day..?" He trailed off, noticing the tears threatening to spill from your eyes. "Are you alright? What's wrong?" He walked toward you only to be detained by a powerful force you set between you two.

"Spare your false sympathy. And tell me the truth... for once." You said, gripping your wrist. "Are you cheating on me?"

The question caught Arthur off guard, unable to speak for more than a few seconds. "N-no..."

You immediately scoffed. "You can't lie out of this one. Just tell me!"

"I'm not, I swear!" He retorted, getting down on his knees. "I..." He reached out a hand to you. "I could never..."

You slapped it away and turned away from him. "I can't believe I can't get a clear answer from you when I already know the truth..." You say, suddenly feeling him grovel at your feet.

"Love... please don't leave me..." Arthur cried tearfully. "I just wanted to see if you're really the one... I realize now that there isn't anyone like you. I promise I won't do anything like this ever again..."

There it was. He finally admitted it.

You sighed in unwanted relief and shook him off. "That's all I needed." You headed to the shared bedroom and began packing your essential items, and opened an exit to an unknown location to escape the hurt you were processing by the minute.

Arthur watched your actions and didn't say a word.

As you stepped through, you looked back at him and the house. "Don't follow me if you value your meaningless life." You smile. "Welcome back to being forever alone!" You spat at the floor and leaped through.

Cheating on a good person is like throwing away a diamond and picking up a rock.
