Continuing...
"Okay fine, but I'm not gonna flirt with her! I'm just gonna tell her how much I enjoyed her music" I took a lot more sips of my drink while they cheered me on. "That sounds like a great idea" Maria spoke. "Yea, it really does! I can tell you really like her music and maybe you can ask for her Instagram... And then you two can make out" Sara wiggled her eyebrows at me as she took a sip of her drink. I crossed my arms as my cheeks started to feel warm. "You see Lina! You're smiling! And blushing! That's a great sign already!" Jessica reassured me.
Maria tapped my shoulder again aggressively. "She's over there! Look! She's walking over to the bar!". Her excitement excuses my now bruising shoulder.
I quickly stood up and fixed my outfit.
"How do I look" I panicked. "Put on your leather jacket! So that you can match with her" Jess winked at me. I was too nervous to know if it was a joke or not so I put it on anyways. "You look hot" Sara added. "Mhm" Maria smirked. "Go before she leaves!" Jess interrupted. I notice that she has on her guitar case, assuming her guitar is in there. Gladly she's distracted by someone who seems to be the owner. They are at the bar talking, like she's thanking him, probably for letting her perform here.
I took a deep breath and started walking over with my shaky legs. Good thing my pants are loose cause then maybe it won't be as noticeable.
Having her back face me makes me feel a little more awkward because she's not gonna see me walking up to her. What if she can't hear me over the music playing?
I stood next to her for what felt like minutes but it's only been like three seconds.
The owner and I made eye contact so he bopped his head to the left, where I am. Butterflies formed in my stomach as I looked back at her.
She turned her whole body to face me since her guitar is kinda her view of me. That was a little geeky for some reason but I like it a lot. A smile instantly formed on her face while I managed to crack a nervous one at her.
"Hi, uh, yndling... I'm Lina" I started off with a slightly shaky voice. I cleared my throat as quietly as I can. Her eyes looked down at me, like she looked at my jacket.
"Hi Lina, I'm Silje" her eyes squinted a little more while her lips perched. I can feel my heartbeat beating faster. "Silje, that's a pretty name" I complimented. Didn't think too much about it, it just came out. "Thank you". Her voice pitched up a little more.
From the corner of my eye I see that the owner left us alone.
"Sorry, I-I, um, sorry" I covered my face with my two hands feeling embarrassed. I heard her giggle at me but not in a mean way. "No don't apologize, It's okay" she placed her hand on my wrist to bring my hands down off my face. She touched me, I repeat, she touched me. It's like tingles of electricity came out of her hand. Her hands are a little cold but very soft.
A breeze of coldness took over my skin once her hand dropped off of mine. Making eye contact with her again took my breath away. She's standing closer to me this time. I can start to feel my legs getting more weak. It's probably the damn alcohol too.
"I just wanted to say that I really enjoyed your songs and I would love to see you perform again..-" "aww, Thank you so much Lina, I appreciate that" she tilted her head to the side slowly blushing a little. But suddenly she brought it back up straight.
"You can follow my Instagram if you want! I post my upcoming shows there". I instantly nodded at her words as I took out my phone. "Yes, I'd like that! Cause I'm definitely gonna be at your future shows". I handed her my phone so that she can type in her Instagram in the search. Seconds later she handed my phone back and took out hers.
"Is it okay if I follow you back?". Her brown eyes stared into mine waiting for a good response. "Yes, of course" I happily replied.
She really wants to follow me also? Oh this is so great, I technically got that out of the way. Hopefully she'll keep in touch. This is enough for now.
"You're really nice by the way... I was really nervous to approach you at first".
I mentioned to her as a notification came on my phone screen.
[LinaLuna] : din.yndling Started to following you.
I smiled at the notification then put my phone away. I noticed that she's smiling into her phone which makes me think she could be texting a boyfriend. I'm not sure why that is my first instinct thought.
"Really? Do I look mean?" She looked up at me then back down at her phone scrolling through something. "No, it's not that, it's just, well, I'm not that social.. And you being so pretty just made me feel more shy". She looked up at me with a shocked expression but with a smile. "Well I'm glad you approached me first because I'm shy myself" she laughed.
After we laughed for a few seconds, she turned her phone to show me her screen. It's a year old photo from my Instagram. "You're from California?.. I mean your American accent gave it away.. Well I guess I already answered my question". She shook her head feeling embarrassed now. She's so cute.
"No, it's fine. I am from California! But I just moved here from-" "Germany". She waved her phone up a little higher to signify that she noticed it from my Instagram. I nodded. "Yes..and now I live here.. Just moved in three weeks ago". Her face looked shocked again. I can tell by the eyebrows raising. A few head nods came with that. "Wow, well welcome! Good choice!" She laughed. "Well I have to go now, I have to wake up early in the morning.. but I definitely want to know more about you! We gotta see each other soon.. I'll text you" she adjusted her falling guitar strap on her shoulders.
Her hand reached out for mine so I went in for the hand shake. "It was very nice meeting you Lina". Felt like her eyes looked into my soul. Our hands now feel warm and tingly. "No, it was a pleasure to hear you sing and to talk with you.. We should definitely hang out sometime" I smiled. Without thinking I looked down at her pink lightly glossed lips. With our hands still together she started to walk backwards towards the door. "See you soon ny venn" (new friend). Her hand gracefully had let go of mine.
I noticed now as she's leaving that her hair is in a half up half down hairstyle, held by a cute small black hair clip. Her slicked back short hair Is such a good look on her. Everything about her is so attractive, so delicate, and so calming. Her accent is so freaking adorable. I could listen to her talk for a long time.
Shit, that's how I used to feel about my old friend. No, no more overthinking, no more comparing. Silje is a different person, new energy. She might also sing and play the guitar but it's not the same voice. I need to let myself live in the moment and flow with things. No guilt.
Silje feels good for me.
