It's been a few months, Marley settled well in Mystic Falls. She made friends, some that she didn't really like, but put up with it. But then, an accident happened, Elena's parents died, only Elena survived the car crash. Her aunt Jenna became her legal guardian to her and Jeremy. Marley took pity on her as she lost herself a loved one. Then the summer vacation was over and they all went back to school.
Marley drove herself to school as she didn't want to expose her magic to the world and that she is immortal. When she arrived on school, she noticed that there was new guy in the class. It was a history lesson with Mr. Tanner. "Once our home state of Virginia joined confederacy in 1861, it created a tremendous amount of tension within the state. People in Virginia's northwest region had different ideals than those from the traditional deep south. Then Virginia divided in 1863 with the northwest region joining the union."

After classes they headed to the Mystic Grill, where Matt asked to Bonnie. "How's Elena doing?"
Bonnie sighed. "Her mom and dad died. How do you think? She's putting on a good face, but it's only been four months."
"Among other things." Marley muttered.
Matt looked at them. "Has she said anything about me?"
"Nope." Marley popped with the 'p'.
"Oh, no. So not getting in the middle." Bonnie agreed with Marley. "You pick up the phone and call her."
Matt sighed, sadly. "I feel weird calling her. She broke up with me."
"Give it more time, Matt." Bonnie told him.
"Yeah." Marley nodded.
Just then, Elena entered with Stefan. "More time, huh?" Matt scoffed. Then, he walked over to Elena and Stefan.
Then, Marley turned to look at Bonnie. "Well, that's got to be awkward."
"Couldn't agree more." Bonnie nodded.

Later, they all sat at the table, Marley clearly disliked Caroline, not so on Elena, but to Stefan, he's... she couldn't place it what he was or that he's even supernatural. Caroline talked to him as then she asked something. "So, you were born in Mystic Falls?"
Stefan hummed. "Mm-Hmm. And moved when I was still young."
"Parents?" Bonnie asked.
Stefan looked sad. "My parents passed away."
"I'm sorry." Elena looked at him. "Any siblings?"
"None that I talk to. I live with my uncle." Stefan replied to her.
"How many siblings do you have?" Marley asked to him.
"One." Stefan replied to her.
Caroline looked at him. "So, Stefan, if you're new, then you don't know about the party tomorrow."
"It's a back to school thing at the falls." Bonnie added.
Stefan looked at Elena. "Are you going?"
"Of course she is." Bonnie replied, before Elena could.
"I'm not going." Marley stated.

The next day, In history class. Mr. Tanner was talking to them all, Marley was bored. "The Battle of Willow Creek took place right at the end of the war in our very own Mystic Falls. How many casualties resulted in this battle? Ms. Bennett?"
Bonnie was unsure to answer that. "Um...a lot? I'm not sure. Like a whole lot."
"Cute becomes dumb in an instant, Ms. Bennett." Tanner told her rudely. "Mr. Donovan? Would you like to take this opportunity to overcome your embedded jock stereotype?"
"It's okay, Mr. Tanner, I'm cool with it." Matt replied to him.
"Miss Miller?" Tanner asked to Marley.
"300?" Marley replied, unsure.
Then, Tanner looked at Elena. "Hmm. Elena? Surely you can enlighten us about one of the town's most significantly historical events?"
"I'm sorry, I... I don't know." Elena replied to him.
"I was willing to be lenient last year for obvious reasons, Elena. But the personal excuses ended with summer break." Tanner stated.
"Rude." Marley muttered. "Please someone kill the guy already!"
Clearly, Stefan had heard her, he chucked, before he spoke up. "There were 346 casualties. Unless you're counting local civilians."
"That's correct. Mister...?" Tanner trailed off.
"Salvatore." Stefan replied to him.
Tanner looked at him. "Salvatore. Any relation to the original settlers here at Mystic Falls?"
"Distant." Stefan replied.
"Well, very good. Except, of course, there were no civilian casualties in this battle." Tanner exclaimed.
Stefan looked at him. "Actually, there were 27, sir. Confederate soldiers, they fired on the church, believing it to be housing weapons. They were wrong. It was a night of great loss. The founder's archives are, uh, stored in civil hall if you'd like to brush up on your facts, Mr. Tanner."
"Hmm." Tanner hummed.

After the day's classes, Marley went home. She had enough for today and straight to bed, not bother to eat.
