The morning sun shined through the window and gave the room a glowy filter. There were two double beds, a couch, a coffee table, and a dining table with two chairs in the room. Matt was on the couch with one leg and one arm hanging off. Both guns were on the coffee table amongst some files.
In one of the beds, Alaina was fast asleep, lying comfortably under the covers. Irelin was leaning on the edge of the second bed, holding Dominic's hand. Dominic was laying there, sound asleep like the rest of them.
After a few minutes of the sun shining in Dominic's face, he began to stir. He blinked his eyes rapidly as he opened them, adjusting to the light. He looked around, trying to place the room. As he tried to sit up, he felt weight on his arm. He looked down to see a familiar redhead resting on the bed. He smiled at her and tried to say her name but his voice was hoarse and made him cough.
Irelin jumped up at the coughing sound, looking around the room confused. Dominic squeezed her hand and she quickly looked at it before looking at him. He smiled at her, his eyes slowly blinking. Irelin's face lit up, a smile growing on her face.
"You're awake." Irelin said, jumping up and hugging him.
"Yeah, I am." Dominic spoke in a raspy tone.
"Are you okay? How are you feeling?"
"I'm okay. A bit thirsty."
"Okay. I can get you some water." Irelin walked over to the table and opened one of the water bottles. She brought it over as Dominic sat up.
"Take it easy." Irelin said, coming back to his bedside.
"I'm okay."
Irelin brought the bottle to his mouth and he took a sip.
"You know I can drink on my own."
"Oh shut up and let me take care of you."
Alaina groaned as the sun shined in her face. She sat up, rubbing her eyes.
"Morning." Irelin cheered.
"Mmm" Alaina grunted.
She looked over and saw Dominic drinking his water. Dominic raised his eyebrows at her as he drank.
"You're alive. Cool." Alaina muttered. "Imma go to bathroom."
"Nice to see you too." Dominic retorted, smiling.
"I'm just messing with you. But seriously. I'm really happy you're okay." Alaina smiled genuinely before getting up from the bed and heading into the ensuite. She hit Matt with a pillow on the way.
Matt groaned.
"Wake up Matt." Alaina said.
"Five more minutes." Matt mumbled into his pillow.
"Who's Matt?" Dominic whispered.
"Alaina's new partner." Irelin whispered back.
"New Partner? Since when?" Dominic asked in a normal tone. "How long have I been gone?"
Dominic chuckled but Irelin looked at him confused. Matt sat up, looking over at them.
"Hey. You're awake." Matt stated.
"Yeah, hey." Dominic said, smiling up at him.
"Welcome back." Matt smiled.
"What's the last thing you remember?" Irelin asked.
