"How?" Alaina asked.
"What in the world?" Matt looked dumbfounded.
"This is impossible." Alaina said under her breath.
Irelin was silent, just staring in disbelief. She slowly reached her hand up to touch his skin. She felt his soft skin under the cloth of the shirt. His body twitched as she came into contact, making her jump.
"We have to get him out of here." Irelin stated.
"Hey! What are you doing here?" a man called out.
"Time to go." Matt said and they all ran out of the room and back into the larger room where Matt was being held.
There was gunfire as they ran across the room and through the double doors. They cut around a corner and slipped into a supply closet. Alaina bent over, wincing at the pain in her leg.
"You've been hit!" Matt exclaimed, noticing a bit of blood.
"It's from earlier." Alaina stated as she breathed heavily.
"What?!" Matt exclaimed.
"Yeah. That's why it took us so long to get you."
"I don't care about that; I knew y'all wouldn't leave me. I care that you are hurt."
"I'm okay, really. But we need to get out of here."
"We have to go back for Dominic." Irelin said.
"We can come back. If we try now, we might get shot down." Alaina noted.
"I'm not just gonna leave him, Lain."
"We will come back for him. We can go back to the hotel and regroup." Matt tried to reason.
"Jasper knows where we were staying. If he wants us dead, he can come after us." Irelin informed him.
"Then we find a new hotel." Alaina stated.
"I'm not leaving him." Irelin spoke before standing up and exiting the closet.
"Irelin wait!" Alaina whispered loudly but Irelin kept going.
Alaina sighed in frustration.
"We need to go after her. She's our partner. We can't leave her behind." Matt put a hand on Alaina's shoulder.
"She's being reckless. She should have never come."
"Lain, if this were Ashton and you spent the past year believing he was dead only to find him as a science experiment, what would you do?"
"I would want to rescue him."
"You would do whatever it takes. Put yourself in her position. You wouldn't want to leave him."
"I guess you're right."
"Damn right I'm right." Matt smiled. "Now let's go back up our girl."
They both stood up and exited the closet, running back to the weird room. Inside, they found Irelin turning knobs on the machine.
"Careful! You might do something dangerous." Matt rushed to her side.
"I'm undoing the drugs." Irelin muttered.
"How do you expect to get him out of here? He's like six feet tall. And can't walk on his own." Alaina questioned from the doorway.
"I was brought in on some gurney thing. There has to be one around here somewhere." Matt informed.
