Part 24

You woke up and glanced out the window. The sky was clear and the sun was shining. You poked Bucky to get him to wake up. It didn't work so you rolled over on top of him. You heard an oomph. "Ok.. I'm awake now..." You got off of him. "Bucky... we finally get a break." "From what?" "From bad guys." You and Bucky stared at the ceiling quietly. "Come here, y/n." You scooted closer to him. He hugged you tightly, letting his hand run up your back. He stopped at the back of your neck.

"What is it?" you asked. "I know how Walker was controlling you." He took you to the bathroom. He gave you a hand mirror. "Look at the back of your neck." You pointed the mirror toward the back of your neck. A tiny, silver, circular device with a blinking red dot was attached to your neck. You touched it in disbelief. "So that's what he was doing in my room in the hospital wing." "What?! John was there and you didn't tell me?!"

You ignored him and asked: "How did you know this was controlling me?" "I've... seen them before... at HYDRA." "How did he get this?" You both were quiet for a moment. "I know exactly how he got that." Bucky said, "But first we should take it off of you. Are you ready?" You nodded. "This might hurt." He pulled but it didn't come off. He tried again. It still didn't budge.You and Bucky tried everything you could and it still didn't come off.

"What did they do at HYDRA when they took these things off?" you asked. "Well, that's the thing... I've never seen them come off." "WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME ABOUT THAT!" you yelled. "YOU DIDN'T TELL ME THAT JOHN WAS IN YOUR HOSPITAL ROOM! HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO TELL YOU THIS IF I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW WHAT HAPPENED!" Bucky shouted back. "YOU'RE THE ONE WHO COULDN'T STOP THE BULLET THAT PUT ME IN THAT ROOM IN THE FIRST PLACE!" Bucky went dead quiet. "Bucky, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to-" Bucky left the bathroom.

He changed into new clothes. A few minutes later you heard the front door slam shut. You sunk down to the floor. You cried and thought to yourself, I'm just making things worse for him. Bucky will never be happy with me.
