"This has gone too far," Marcus whispered loudly as he brought the bomb up to his face. He played with the pin with a grimace expression.

"Mhhh, imaging yourself a hero? One final act to make you the martyr you've always seen yourself as?" Dad chuckled as he connected his hands and relaxed his head on his hands.

Marcus groaned in annoyance and stood up straight.
"Then what are you waiting for?" Dad asked intuitively. Marcus sighed and left the room in silence.

After Marcus had left the room, Dad swiveled round in his office chair to face the wall decorated with an ornate window sill. Meanwhile, me and J had moved over to the edge of the platform and let our legs fall of the end, the glitter bomb left abandoned in the corner

"He's faltering. You need to weaponize the Hex Tech soon. Once we've cracked their prize, topside will have no power over us," he sighed with his head in his hand.

I looked over J, who held  a very sad expression on her face. She was normally a really happy jumpy person so this shocked me a bit.

"I can't do it. Just... just give it to Y/N and the doctor," J paused and looked over at me. She looked like she was about to cry.

"You two are the only ones I can trust with this Jinx and Shimmer," Dad explained as he looked up towards us.

"I keep... seeing them. That day."

Dad stood up for his seat and stared into both of our eyes in turn.

"Fear haunts us all, children. Follow me."

ad brought us to the lake that connected the two cities of Zaun and Piltover. As we stood on the bank of the lake, the starry sky above was filled with stars and clouds. Stepping into the dirty water, he beconed for me and J to follow into the murky depths. I grabbed Jinxs hand and marched after Dad.

"I almost drowned in these waters," Dad spoke, breaking the peaceful silence between us and fiddling with the water making it ripple slightly.

"You've told us this a million times!" J replied snarkily, sounding bored.

"Vander wasn't the man who you thought he was," stated Dad and snapped his head towards us. Jinx in particular, as I had never met Vander.

"Right, he was like a brother to you, and he turned his back and blah, blah, blah. Did I miss anything?" I remarked and threw my head back as I spoke.

Dad let out an audible chuckle," I've got a new one for you both."

He ran his hand through the water and let the liquid drip off his slim fingers as he raised them.

"That day, I let a weak man die." He slowly dived into the water and when he emerged, ran his fingers through his hair to push back the loose hairs.

"And another was reborn."

I felt a gaze on me and saw that J was staring at me with a confused expression and I had the same expression.

What did Vander to do him?
