3rd person's POV

Abuela stood up at the head of the table and all eyes went to her. Mirabel tried her best to look like she had not been crying almost all morning and Camilo looked like his calm self, ready to cause mischief at any moment.

"Thank you all for finishing your chores and joining me for lunch. Now I'd like to announce that our precious Julieta has been entered into a cooking contest," she says.

Everyone cheered as Julieta looked at her mom with shock.

"She'll surely win!" Pepa exclaims.

"Of course, her cooking is the best!"

"Well duh, its the best cause it heals."

Abuela then raised her hand causing everyone to sit back down and listen to her. Everyone apologized for interrupting her and continued to eat while listening.

"Anyways, we all know that our Julieta is an amazing cook. Which is why I will be allowing a few of you to go with her to support her in the contest," she announces. Everyone groaned in response since they were hoping that it'd be a family trip. But they still had responsibilities to attend to in the village.

"Mirabel, please assist your mother in cooking. And don't screw anything up again for your mami."

"Camilo, go with them because we need a break from your pranks."

"Isabela, make sure your dad doesn't distract your mother by getting into too many accidents."

"Everyone else, go back to your chores," Abuela says before leaving the table. Luisa, Pepa, Felix, Antonio, and Isabela groaned as they left to go back to the village and help out.

"YES! Vacation time! Don't miss me too much~" Camilo sang as he went upstairs to start packing his bags for their trip. Mirabel also went upstairs as she got her bag ready and made sure Dolores had the right materials to teach Antonio while she was gone.

"Madrigals going to the contest, you leave tonight! So hurry and pack everything up. Julieta, please leave us many arepas for the villagers in case they get hurt badly when you're gone," Abuela instructed before everyone went to do their own things once again.

Camilo's POV

~ 7pm ~

we got on this really cool contraption called an airplane after we left Encanto. It was in the city and Mirabel explained to me that it was going to take us to the city the contest was going to be in.

Apparently it was like a car with wings that flew at crazy fast speeds. It used to take people months to travel overseas and now it takes them less than a day with the airplane. Wow who would've thought about making something like that? It's absolutely genius.

"Okay, so the competition will be held in Portorosso. It does not have an airport or a place to land an airplane. So it says we'll be landing in Genova where we take a train to Portorosso," Augustin says as he reads the instructions Abuela gave us to travel. I nodded my head.

On the plane these ladies gave us a meal. it wasn't as good as Tia Julieta's cooking, but it was still food so I ate it. After eating, I listened to Mirabel read one of her books before falling asleep cause it was honestly kind of boring. But also because I was exhausted.

~ time skip ~

I woke up and suddenly I was on the train. I looked around confused to see that my Tio, Tia, and older cousin was asleep.

"My dad carried you while us girls carried all the suitcases. You were knocked out, I thought you had died," Mirabel states plainly. I looked over to see she was looking out of the window at the rain.

"I didn't realize someone could sleep for 15 hours until today," Mirabel laughed. I rolled my eyes and stood up. "I have to use the restroom. I'll be right back," I told her. "Oh can I come? There's this kind of creepy guy in the compartment near the restroom and I don't wanna go alone," she says. I shrugged and led the way to the bathroom.

She went first into the restroom since by the time we got there, she really seemed like she needed to use it.

While I was waiting, I suddenly got shoved into the wall. "HEY! Watch where you're going!" I shouted. I turned around to find this younger boy staring up at me.

I swear I saw bluish-green spots disappear from his skin as he turned to me. "Sorry sir! I didn't see you there," he quickly apologized.

He had dark, brown, curly hair that fell just above his eyes. His eyes were a light brown and his cheeks a little rosy. He was wearing a white and green flannel with some really short jeans.

"Hey what's all the ruckus about. What happened, Luca?" this girl asked as she came out of her compartment not too far away from us.

She had long, curly, red hair. Much curlier then her friend's hair. She wore white and blue clothes. The girl wore a a glare on her face as she peered up at me.

"Was this punk bothering you? HEY! Pick on someone your own size!" she yells at me. She got on her tips of her toes and got close to me.

The bathroom door opened revealing a very confused Mirabel. "What in the world is going on? Can't a girl pee in peace?" exclaimed Mirabel. She then turned to the girl in front of me and slightly pushed her away from me.

"Step away from my cousin. What are you yelling about? Don't you know everyone is asleep?" She asked the girl. The girl rolled her eyes at us.

"How about you tell your cousin to leave my friend and I alone?"

Mirabel turned to me with a glare and threw her hands in the air. "What did you do now, Camilo?" Suddenly the smaller boy yelled at all of us. "STOP! He wasn't bothering me, Giulia. Miss, I'm sorry that my friend got ahead of herself. Sir, I'm sorry for bumping into you. I really didn't mean to cause any problems, I just stepped out for some fresh air real quick," the boy apologized.

We all stared at him confused before he just grabbed his friend and pulled her into their compartment.

I turned to my cousin and shrugged before using the restroom so we could quickly go back to our own compartment.

"Do you really think that your mom can win this competition?" I asked my cousin. She shrugged her shoulders and sighed. "I hope so. It'd really help," she replied.

I looked at her confused. What does she mean by help? Help with what? What is Mirabel up to now? I swear to god she's always doing something extra. She better not pull me into this.

"When everyone was asleep, before you woke up, I was reading about the contest in a newspaper. It said it'd be shown all over the world from a camera that allows people to watch from home. I was hoping that maybe if mom won, she'd be well known around the world and that maybe we could send a message to y/n through my mom's win," explained Mirabel.

I looked at her surprised since I didn't think she'd actually be thinking like that. I didn't even know that was possible to use the competition as a way to send a message to y/n.

I smiled and nodded my head. "Then lets hope this sudden trip
