Like I said earlier my winter has heartbreak. Let me tell you about that. It starts from the day we met. It was the first day of the semester. I was starting baking, and we had partners in that class. Of course, I got partnered with the new kid who had just started today. His name was Noah. I remember thinking oh great I get the new kid. But he ended up being pretty cool. He was shy at first but once we got to know each other we realized we had a good amount in common. Thinking about it now we kind of hit it off right away. We thought in similar ways when it came to baking. This was because our parents had taught us how to bake similarly growing up. It was nice how easily we worked together in the kitchen. We worked in other ways too. We had similar music tastes which was cool because we would listen to music together in baking. I found out that like me he liked to play guitar.
In one class, the teacher gave us an extra credit option. He said that if we wanted we could bake something of our choice at home and bring it in and show him. Noah and I both had a good grade in this class but decided that why not do this if we both had the time. Besides, it would be fun to bake together when we can be relaxed and not have to listen to the stupid school rules. I had no idea that I would get more than just some extra points for my grade out of this assignment.
We decided to work at Noah's house because he has a nice kitchen. It was fun to get to spend time with him outside of school. We didn't really have any other classes together, we had lunch but he sat with some guys that I don't really know. I've always tended to be kind of a loner. But for some reason with Noah talking to him just felt so natural. I liked when he was around, for once I didn't want to be alone. We decided we wanted to try and impress the teacher so we were gonna make a cake from scratch. it started as us just baking but at some point, during the baking, it ended up with a bit of craziness.
Noah had pointed out that I had some flour on my nose and I mockingly took some flour and threw it at him. I remember I had said, "oh, you got a little something too by the way". He rolled his eyes at me, smirked, and grabbed some more flour. He had said "Oh now you better watch out," I didn't even know his house but I just started running, I ran into the living room and dove onto the couch unsuccessfully hiding behind a pillow. Somewhere in the running he had lost the flour and was just coming at me. He jumped onto the couch next to me and started to try and get the pillow from me. Good thing his parents weren't home because our laughter was so loud. I loved the sound of his laugh, it just sounded so full and hearty. After at least a few good minutes of laughing, we stopped and looked at each other, and yeah I know this is cheesy but from that moment I knew that Noah and I had met for a reason When I was with him I felt so happy, it was just amazing. I think he knew it too. The way we looked at each other, sitting on the couch both of us with messy hair and flour on our faces. I could feel us getting lost in the moment but then there was a loud noise from the kitchen.
It was the oven timer. We got so distracted we had almost forgotten the cake. We went back into the kitchen and got the cake out to cool. we got the frosting ready and cleaned up the mess both on the counter and our faces.
while we waited for the cake to cool he gave me a tour of his house. You would think he would've done this first but we wanted to get the assignment done because I wasn't sure how long I'd be staying. His bedroom was nice, It was pretty simple but he had a cozy sport for playing guitar. He went over and quickly put something away, it looked like a folder or something. "what are you putting away" I had asked. "Oh it's nothing, just some songs I've written, they're all pretty stupid," He said, rubbing the back of his neck seeming embarrassed. I was about to ask to see the songs but the timer dinged from downstairs, the cake was ready to be frosted.
We decided to decorate with flowers since it was spring. Frosting the cake went pretty well, It ended up looking really good. The purple and pink flowers mixed with some green leaves here and there just made it look so delicious. We knew our teacher would be impressed.
it was about 3:15 and my mom was coming to get me at 4:30 so we still had time to hang out for a bit. It was Saturday so I went over in the morning just in case you were wondering. This was pretty much the first time we had gotten to hang out when we could do whatever we wanted. It was a beautiful day out so Noah suggested we go for a walk. This was nice because it gave us a chance to just talk, we've known each other for a couple of weeks now but it felt like I had known him for so long. Thinking about this now it all sounds like every high school romance movie ever. But I guess that's ok because, to be honest, that's what it felt like. I felt like one of those girls in the movie who finds a guy and instantly feels the connection.
The first part of our walk ended with us stopping at a pond. We sat on the end of the dock there for a while. We were just talking, and of course, the occasional burst of laughter came from one of us making a stupid joke. Unfortunately, we couldn't stay there forever, we walked back to Noah's house to get ready for my mom to pick me up. We said goodbye and decided we needed to hang out again sometime.
