"Dr. Kim?"
Taehyung turned around to meet eyes with a cheerful Jungkook. Once he saw his red eyes and dark under circles his cheerfulness disappeared.
"Have you been here since we got off the shift?"
"Yeah." He admitted as he looked back at the films in front of him. He was analyzing every detail for the hundredth time.
Jungkook stood next to him and carefully looked at the images of the spinal tumor yet again. "Smart tumor huh? It's mind blowing how it managed to survive. It's wrapped around the spinal cord like a tourniquet."
"It's atrocious. I've never seen anything like this. It's literally impossible to operate on." There was something different about his voice.
Typically, Taehyung was very proud and confident of his work. At the moment, he didn't sound confident at all. In fact, he sounded scared.
"Well, yeah, but you can do it. It's not impossible for you. You're a great neurosurgeon."
Taehyung looked at him, "You are seeing the same thing I am, right?"
"Of course, I know we don't get along so well, but you're the best neurosurgeon I've ever worked with. I shadowed a few of them at the other hospital I worked at. The precision of your surgeries is mind blowing. I've never seen anything like it before."
"Are you just saying this because you want to assist on this surgery? You know if I go down you don't get a good reputation either, right?"
"No. I mean don't get me wrong, assisting on this procedure would look good on my list of accomplishments. But I would never endanger the life of a patient if I didn't believe in you. I always tell you the truth and that's why we bump heads most of the time. I truly do believe in you."
Taehyung took a deep shaky breath, "Do you really think I can do it?" He asked again. Hearing someone else say it out loud made him feel better about the situation.
Jungkook smiled reassuringly as he nodded, "Yes. Of course I do."
Taehyung released one more deep breath and put his hand on Jungkook's shoulder. He squeezed it lightly looking him in the eye
"Okay. Let's book an OR then." He said and walked out the door.
Jungkook attempted to ignore his beating heart without success. How come such a simple touch be so overpowering?
He looked down at his shoulder and softly pressed his hand against it. The blush traveling in his neck into his face warmed him up inside.
His skin was still glowing with the stars Taehyung's touch had left behind.

"Hello? Yoongi? Hello?"
Yoongi's ear ringing stopped once Yuta shook his shoulder. He gasped and quickly readjusted himself coming back to reality.
"Oh. Hey. What's up?" He asked, scratching the back of his head.
"Are you watching Jimin?" He questioned looking towards the room Jimin was in.
"What? No! I mean yes, yes I was, but I just want to make sure that he's telling the patient the right things. In case he needs my help or something."
Jimin was talking to a patient and his wife explaining how the procedure went and what could be the potential side effects. He looked very professional.
Yoongi had never seen a wrinkle on his white lab coat or scrubs. His hair was always perfectly styled despite the hectic environment. And that smile was to die for.
Nothing else had to be said for him to comfort them. As long as he had that smile on his face everything would be fine.
"I'm actually here to talk to you about him."
"Oh. What about him? What's going on?"
"I don't know if he mentioned that I invited him to dinner. I hope you don't mind."
"No. I'm not...I don't mind. Why would I mind?" He was a little too paranoid. Hopefully Yuta wouldn't notice.
"Well, I know us residents typically take an intern and when I asked Jimin he said you hadn't even mentioned it to him. I thought you'd go with him."
Yoongi tapped his pen against his stack of papers. He had been avoiding telling Jimin about the dinner because he was afraid he'd get the impulse to invite him.
It was cruel to lead him on when he wasn't ready for a relationship. Jimin was simply too loving to not fall for. He couldn't allow himself to care for another person.
The irrational fear he had of losing another person was unbearable. It was suffocating and painful. Maybe he was selfish to turn Jimin away, but he had to do it to protect his heart.
"I had forgotten about it." He lied attempting not to seem too suspicious.
"Really? You're always so excited about the dinners."
"Yeah well, I've just been busy lately. I'm trying to apply to be an attendee and you know that's a lot of work."
"Oh yes. I know that's a lot. So you don't mind me taking him?"
"Uhh...no. I just...no. I don't mind. Has he already said yes?"
"No, but I have a feeling he will." He smiled confidently.
The instant gut wrenching feeling Yoongi felt lit him up. "Right." Was all he could say to not say something ugly.
Yuta was his friend. It was good and healthy for Jimin to get over him so why was he jealous? Why did he suddenly want to punch his friend on the face?
"Who are you taking?"
"I don't know. I might not take anyone."
"Bummer. Hey, by the way I was wondering when you're changing rotations?"
"I'm not quite sure. Why are you asking?"
"Well, because I'd love to have Jimin on the pediatric floor. He seems very good with kids and I just know he will be great. I was thinking of—"
"He's mine!" He said a little too fast.
Yuta raised his eyebrows, "Uhh...sorry did I miss something?"
"Umm...no sorry. What I was trying to say is that he's my intern right now. Plus, Jimin is not interested in pediatric surgery."
"Really? Wow. When I spoke to him he didn't seem opposed to it."
"Uhh...I have to go check on this other patient real quick." Yoongi quickly said, trying to change the conversation.
"Yeah, yeah, of course. I have to go too. I'll see you around." He mumbled, waving bye.
Yoongi grabbed his stack of papers and started heading down the hallway. Jimin called him before he was too far.
"Dr. Min?"
"Huh? Yes? What happened? Does the patient want to see me?"
"No. They seemed okay with my explanation. I told them how the surgery went and answered their questions. Can I come along?"
Yoongi smiled nodding. Jimin returned the smile and stood next to him. "Need help with that?" He asked, pointing to the stack of papers.
"Sure. Thank you."
Yoongi's smile widened as Jimin happily walked next to him. And although he wasn't his boyfriend or anything like that he was his intern.
Only his.
