High Weald Secondary School,
Robertsbridge, East Sussex
03.09.2002
Dear Mrs Swift,
I regret to inform you that a decision has been made to exclude Felix from school.
As you may well be aware, Felix has found himself in trouble on his first day at High Weald Secondary after getting involved in a fight. It is the first rule of our school, that we will not tolerate violence of any kind. As head teacher, I can never take it lightly when the welfare of the students in my care is threatened.
Not only this, but Felix decided to abscond from the school premises when challenged about his behaviour. This is totally unacceptable, and we will not accept any excuses for truancy.
Under the circumstances, two weeks' suspension is our only option. Both Felix and the other boy with whom he entered into a fight will not be permitted to attend school during this 'cooling off' period.
Towards the end of their exclusion, we will arrange for both sets of parents to bring the boys in for a meeting so that we can discuss the situation and hopefully come to a mutually beneficial arrangement.
It is also my duty, in light of Felix's previous record, to pass this information over to the police, who will inform the relevant persons at the facility from which Felix has been recently released.
I hope that you understand our decision, but if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.
Kind regards,
Jacqueline Granger
Head Teacher
