The Daycare

I make my way over to the daycare, something I feel should have been much harder. I wonder why? I have a map and it's very easy to find where I'm going on it. If I had to find a word for it, it'd be... instinct? This is getting on my nerves. I'm just a frog in a well, and the higher I go up, the higher the well is. I ignore my internal monologuing as I open the door.

The place looks great. I could imagine kids wasting countless hours in the maze that is the play place. But I'm not here to explore... I've got the daycare attendant to meet, or Sun, as they're called. My attention is quickly called over to what seems to be a diving board attached to an opening, where I see a very yellow and orange individual embellishing a dive into the ball pit below. I was very alarmed at first but I quickly recall that the ball pit is cushioned.

The animatronic that I assume to be Sun quickly dashes its way to me. "Hello, new friend! You're awfully late! Are we having a slumber party?" They ask excitedly, getting a bit too close to my face for comfort. "Uh, well, I'm Lyle and I was told I'd be working with you." Sun's head spins around which I assume means they are mimicking thinking. "Oh... Oh! Yes, the staff did tell me I'd have a new pal to help me take care of all the children! Nice to meet you, Lyle, I'm Sun! Or Sunny, or Sundrop, or whatever you'd like to call me!" "Yeah, nice to meet you Sun. I'm supposed to teach kids during daycare hours." "Right! Follow me and I'll show you where to park yourself."

Sun does a funny walk as they lead me around the daycare, I can tell they are taking a long way around but I don't mind. "And here we are! Lyle's Lair! A softly lit, tundra-themed area. That looks as cold as it is cozy. "Woah... this looks pretty neat. Looks like they didn't pull out any stops for me." I'm astonished by how it looks. It's a very pretty area. With towering "trees", indoor snowballs for the children to play with (with a built-in area for a massive snowball fight of course), and an igloo in the center with books, beanbag chairs, blankets, and pillows galore. Any apprehensions I had quickly melt away as I find myself in love with this place. "They built all of this for me?" I ask no one in particular. Sun has the courtesy to let me soak in the moment.

I quickly turn around to Sun, "Wow, this is awesome! It's my pleasure to work with you." Sun giggles. "I'll leave you to your lair, but first let me place down some rules. Have fun! And always keep the lights on, on, on!" "Well, what about naptime?" "Well, I mean, please don't mess with the lights. They are already set to go off when they need be." "Okay." Sun leaves me to my room, I quickly look at all the books on the shelf, I already have all the words to them in my database but that can't match reading them myself. I also look around and find some models in some baskets near my chair, and a calendar for what's being taught on which day. Tomorrow is just an introduction, it looks like I'm just supposed to teach them about myself and Lynxes. I grab the book on Lynxes and start reading, there's no way I'm messing up tomorrow. Time flies fast, and before I know it, it's time to charge up for tomorrow. I power down in anticipation for tomorrow.
