Night had fallen in the Gryffindor Common Room. The four friends came down the stairs and began to walk across the floor, but stopped when they heard croaking.

"Trevor." Dayton realised.

"Trevor, shh! Go, you shouldn't be here!" Ron urged in a hushed voice.

"Neither should you." A voice suddenly said, and Neville popped his head out from behind a chair. "You're sneaking out again, aren't you?"

"Now, Neville, listen. We were–" Harry began, but Neville cut him short.

"No! I won't let you!" Neville said, standing. "You'll get Gryffindor in trouble again! I-I'll fight you!"

He held up his fists.

Hermione sighed. "Neville, I'm really, really sorry about this." She said, whipping out her wand. "Petrificus Totalus!"

The incantation caused Neville to instantly freeze up and fall backwards onto the floor, as if he were petrified.

Hermione put her wand back.

"You're a little scary sometimes, Hermione... you know that?" Dayton said, his voice quivering slightly.

Ron gulped and nodded. "Brilliant, but scary."

"Let's go." Harry ordered, and the children followed him, profusely apologising to Neville as they left.

The four were under the Invisibility Cloak, sneaking along the corridor.

"Ow! You stood on my foot, Dayton!" Hermione scolded him.

"Sorry." Dayton replied.

A flame lit up as Hermione approached the door that Fluffy was kept in.

"Alohomora." Hermione cast the spell, and the door magically unlocked and opened, where the enormous dog lay. Faint harp music could be heard.

"Wait a minute," Ron whispered. "He's..."

There was a blow of air and the cloak fluttered off the children. "Sleeping." Ron finished his sentence.

"Snape's already been here." Harry predicted. "He's put a spell on the harp."

They approached the sleeping dog with extreme caution.

"Ugh, it's got horrible breath!" Ron whispered, crinkling his nose.

"We have to move its paw." Harry instructed, kneeling.

"What?!" Ron exclaimed, still in a hushed voice.

"Harry Potter, you have got to be joking!" Dayton added.

"Come on!" Harry ordered, grabbing the large paw blocking the trap door.

"Okay, push!" Harry commanded, and the four children managed to move it.

Harry opened the trap door. "I'll go first." He said to the others. "Don't follow until I give you a sign. If something bad happens, get yourselves out."

Unbeknownst to them, Fluffy's eyes had opened, and the music had stopped.

"Does it seem a bit... quiet?" Dayton said softly, a chill running down his spine.

"The harp. It stopped playing." Hermione observed.

Drool from one of Fluffy's heads came down on Ron's shoulder, making him cringe and grimace.

"Ew! Yuck!" Ron exclaimed, just as the children all looked up to see Fluffy towering over them.

"Peace out!" Dayton yelled as he jumped down the trap door.
