July 31, 1991

That stormy night, the Dursleys, including Harry and Dayton, had settled in a tall house, on a rock island somewhere out at sea, due to the chaos with the letters. The family was sleeping, with Harry and Dayton on the cold dirt floor and Dudley sleeping on a sofa. Harry and Dayton had drawn a birthday cake which read "Happy Birthday, Harry". Harry looked at Dudley's watch which beeped at 12:00, midnight.

"Make a wish, man." Dayton said to Harry as he blew out the "candles" on the drawn birthday cake.

Suddenly, there was a thumping sound at the door, in sync with the thunder flashing. Harry and Dayton jumped. The door thumped again and Dudley, Dayton and Harry jumped up and backed away. Harry hid behind a wall, and Dudley cowered on a windowsill. Dayton bravely stood his ground as Petunia and Vernon appeared, with Vernon holding a double barrelled shotgun.

"Who's there?" Vernon hollered.

The door banged again and then fell down, and a giant man appeared. As he came into the clear lighting, he was revealed to be none other than Rubeus Hagrid.

"Sorry 'bout that." Hagrid spoke, his thick accent very prominent in his words. He put the door back up.

Vernon immediately aimed his shotgun at him. "I demand that you leave at once, sir! You are breaking and entering!" He threatened.

"Dry up, Dursley, you great prune." Hagrid told the man, grabbing the barrel of the shotgun and bending it upwards into an L shape. Vernon made an attempt to fire, but the two shells blasted a hole in the ceiling, causing the two to shriek in fear.

It was then that Hagrid took notice of Dudley. "Boy, I haven't seen you since you was a baby, Harry, but you're a bit more along than I would have expected. Particularly 'round the middle!"

It was clear that Hagrid had misunderstood, and Dudley pointed that out for him. "I-I'm not Harry." Dudley stammered.

It was then that Harry stepped out from behind the wall. "I am," he said quietly.

"Oh, well, of course yeh are!" Hagrid replied.

He then took notice of Dayton. "Yeh must be Dayton Cahill! I remember yer mother when she was yer age. Great young lady, she was."

Dayton was visibly confused. What did his mother have to do with all this?

"Got something fer the both of ya." Hagrid said. "'Fraid I might 'ave sat on it at some point. I imagine that it'll taste fine just the same. Baked them myself, words and all." He handed Harry and Dayton two boxes, each containing a birthday cake, Dayton's being because his birthday was the next day.

Harry opened his box, and the cake read "Happee Birdae Harry" in green frosting. Dayton's said the same, with his own name, in blue frosting.

"Thank you!" Harry exclaimed, borderline speechless.

"It's not every day that your young man turns eleven, now is it, aye?" Hagrid responded.

He sat down on the sofa, took out an umbrella and pointed it at the empty fire. Two sparks flew out and started the fire. The family gasped.

Harry set the cakes down on a nearby table. "Excuse me, who are you?" He asked.

"Rubeus Hagrid." The half-giant introduced himself. "Keeper of keys and grounds at Hogwarts. Course, you'll know all about Hogwarts."

Dayton and Harry exchanged glances. "No, I'm afraid not." Dayton replied with a puzzled expression.

"No?" Hagrid said, shocked. "Blimey, didn't you ever wonder where your relatives learned it all?"
