Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter, an 11-year-old orphan raised by his unwelcoming aunt and uncle, who learn of his own fame as a wizard known to have survived his biological parents' murder at the hands of the dark wizard Lord Voldemort as an infant when he is accepted to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The only other person who knows of this is Dayton Cahill, his close friend.
Dayton Cahill as himself, an 11-year-old boy from Vancouver, British Columbia, who moved to England with his father, stepmother and siblings at the age of 4 (his birth mother had died when he was 3). With curly blond hair, blue eyes and round framed glasses, Dayton holds an outgoing and extroverted personality, with a mind full of jokes and a natural talent at singing and playing instruments. Dayton already has a close friendship with Harry Potter and has, himself, been on the bad side of the Dursleys, Harry's adopted family. While at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, he develops friendships with Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger.
Rupert Grint as Ron Weasley, Harry and Dayton's best friend at Hogwarts and a younger member of the Weasley wizarding family.
Emma Watson as Hermione Granger, Harry's other best friend and the quartet's brains. Hermione often is the voice of reason for Dayton.
Robbie Coltrane as Rubeus Hagrid, a half-giant and Hogwarts' gamekeeper.
Richard Harris as Albus Dumbledore, Hogwarts' Headmaster and one of the most famous and powerful wizards of all time.
Maggie Smith as Minerva McGonagall, the Deputy Headmistress, head of Gryffindor and Transfiguration teacher at Hogwarts.
Alan Rickman as Severus Snape, the Potions Master and head of Slytherin House.
Tom Felton as Draco Malfoy, a student in the Slytherin house and rival of Harry and Dayton.
Matthew Lewis as Neville Longbottom, a first-year student in Gryffindor.
Ian Hart as Quirinus Quirrell, the stuttering Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher at Hogwarts.
