I entered the building. Surprisingly, the hallways weren't as crowded as they usually are in the mornings. (Who am I kidding, they're usually crowded at any time of day.) I checked the time on the huge clock that's just there in the middle of the hallway. 8:10

Im late.

Shoot shoot shoot. I have to hurry or I'll get a long lecture that neither me or the teacher really wants to have.

You know.. this kind of reminds me of that time after the party when Jeremy.. abandoned me. We had school the next day and I was late. I entered my homeroom and got totally chewed out by my homeroom teacher. He's like 3000 years old. He's ancient and still talks about how back in his day, kids weren't on all these "new-fangled devices"; they actually went outside.

- a flashback brought to you by Yassified Pinocchio, a real boy-

"I see you've finally come to join us, Mr. Mell."
"Sorry Sir It won't happen aga-"
"Save your excuses for another teacher. Just sit down Mr. Mell. We are halfway through attendance. I'll have to mark you as present.. or late, perhaps."

I could feel my face heat up. Most of the kids eyes were on me. I hastily sat down in my seat and cupped my head in my hands. I hated life right now.

Some girl who sit nexts to me, uh what was her name? Beth? Brenda? Something with a B.. I think she's one of those popular girls that Jeremy left me for. I don't really care what her name is but anyway she started talking to me for some reason.

"Hey, are you okay?"

I pretended to not hear her, but I was honestly very surprised that she asked me this.

"Helloo?" She poked my arm with her pencil.

"What do you want..?" I mumbled, visibly annoyed.

"Jeez, sorry. I just asked if you were okay. You seemed out of it."

"And? " I said under my breath.

The girl rolled her eyes. "Do you always act this cold? I mean you never speak in class and when you do your face goes red and you mumble. It's like you're on your period but constantly."

"Do I look like a girl?" I raised an eyebrow at her indignantly. Then I remembered the night before and how I lied about having my period to stay in the bathroom. Funny.

"It's just a phrase calm down.."

"Why are you even talking to me?"

".. did you not just hear what I said like two minutes ago?"

I shrugged. "But why now?"

The girl opened her mouth but I cut her off. Something inside me just snapped.

"Oh I see you probably notice me because of that popular kid Jeremy. Let's talk to his anti-social stoner boyfriend or whatever we don't know what his name even is but ohohoho he's connected to Jeremy in some way and we just have to get the gossip don't we. Oh but wait! they're not friends anymore! That kid is just a loser and everyone, even Jeremy knows it!!!"

The girl looked stunned. Then she.. smiled?

"You think this is funny, don't you." I sneered.
