"Monica?" Chandler whispered as they walked back along the dark corridor to their room. "Mmhmm?" she happily replied. "well, I was wondering if maybe you wanted me to sleep on the floor tonight, you know, for you?" He then turned to unlock the door, almost afraid to discover her answer. She was silent all the while Chandler unlocked the door, all the while they walked inside and all the while he locked the door again behind them. He almost thought she hadn't heard him, until she suddenly spoke up. "Sleep in the bed. I don't mind" she never looked at him, she just went into her bag and then headed for the bathroom.
Chandler watched her the entire time as she crouched to the floor to find her pyjamas, the way her nose wrinkled at the top as she searched endlessly for them, the way her face lit up when she finally for them and strolled off into the bathroom to change.
Finally, Chandler snapped out of his trance to take off his clothes and throw on an old T-shirt with his boxers.
Monica looked at her reflection in the dusty mirror hung above the sink. Slowly, she lifted her large T-shirt to reveal her black bra. She then removed her shorts and converse, leaving her standing in her underwear. She stood for what seemed like forever, just staring.
"Monica? You okay in there?". Monica jumped back and pressed her palm against her chest in shock. "Uh... Yeah Chandler, I'm fine" she said grabbing one of her brother's old oversized button-up shirts and throwing it on then half buttoning it and opening the door. She faced Chandler with a smile and pushed past him, throwing her clothes down on top of her bag in the process, and then jumped onto the bed and under the covers. "You sure?" Chandler repeated as he turned out the light and climbed in next to her. When she didn't reply he lightly tapped her shoulder. His hand was warm and comforting. She turned to face him with tears, and fear, in her eyes. "Come here" he said holding out his arms to her. Reluctantly, she shuffled closer to him and raised her hands to run through his hair. She leaned up and lightly kissed his cheek, her tears catching his cheek, before whispering "I know you'll keep me safe. I can trust you". She then settled down into his arms as he held her tightly and they both, eventually, drifted to sleep.
"Monica?! Monica where are you baby?" She heard his voice. She turned the corner and saw him standing there. His stance was angry yet his face was kind and comforting. "Where did you go sweetheart? I was looking for you" he took her hand and lead her over to the couch. "You are so pretty. All my friends are jealous of how amazing you are and that you're all mine" he smirked. "Well that's too bad. I'm your girlfriend" Monica giggled, leaning forward and lightly kissing him. As she pulled away he grabbed her arms and pulled her back. "Mm... please don't. I don't want to" she groaned pushing his chest lightly "but you just said that you're MY girlfriend, so be a good one!!!" He said throwing her to the floor and continuing to kiss her. Suddenly he stopped and stood up, pulling her with him. "Where are we going?" She began to cry as he pulled her outside. "You'll see!!!" He whispered in her ear. "Stop it. I don't like it! I'm scared. You're my boyfriend. I shouldn't be afraid, I should feel safe. I don't feel safe, stop!". Suddenly she was face down on the concrete. "TURN OVER!!!" the voice shouted. It was changing, morphing into something that sounded almost familiar. She rolled over to look up at the owner of the voice and screamed as she shot up from the floor...
"Monica! Monica! Wake up sweetie. It's just a dream. Come on sweetie. It's just a dream" he opened her eyes and found herself staring at the walls of a motel room, eyes burning and in the embrace of someone comforting. "Oh Chandler!" She cried into his arms. "Come on sweetie. What happened?" Concern coating his voice he wiped her hair from her eyes. "I was so scared. But I knew you'd keep me safe" she hugged him tighter. "Mon? What happened in your dream?" He asked, looking into her eyes. "I was in an apartment, and there was this guy but... I couldn't make out his face. He was my boyfriend. He kept trying to make me kiss him and I didn't want to so I tried to stop him. Then he said I was a horrible girlfriend so he dragged me outside. Suddenly I was on the ground and he told me to look at him, but when I did..." She stopped and began sobbing again. "Please Monica. Tell me please" he whispered kissing her hair. She clutched his shirt as she looked up to him.
"He was you"
