The first day of the academy was coming up, nearly six months since the Hokage asked him if he wanted to join. Naruto was feeling excited and nervous. He stood outside the door. He could hear the uproar inside, then a deep yell and everyone calmed down. He took a deep breath and knocked on the door. It slid open, and 40 pairs of eyes stared at him. He walked up to the teacher's desk and handed him a scroll that the Hokage had asked him to give to his teacher. The teacher skimmed through, his eyes bugging out more and more the longer he got into the scroll. After finishing, he cleared his throat. "This is your new class mate," He said to the class, "He will be with us from now on so be nice to him," he continued. Naruto heard some whispers, and they weren't that nice. Some people must have recognised him. "You should introduce yourself," The teacher said towards Naruto. "Hello. My name is Naruto Senju. I hope we can get along." He said as he bowed. You could hear a pin drop after he said his last name. "EHHHHH!!" was the collective response to his last name. A black-haired and black-eyed boy perked up. He seemed unimpressed with the newcomer until he said his last name. He smirked slightly, finally someone who could keep up.

Naruto walked up to an empty seat. He asked to sit down next to a pineapple ponytail and a slightly chubby boy. The pineapple head he asked had his head on the desk, obviously trying to sleep. He knew the chubby boy was from the Akimichi-clan since he had that chubby cheeks and blush that all of them had. The pineapple head he mused was from the Nara-clan. The sleepy Nara turned his attention towards the blonde boy smiling at him. With great reluctance, he allowed him to sit down. The rest of the lesson was fine, if not a little boring.

A couple of days later, some villagers have begun to leave Naruto alone since hearing the rumour of his heritage. Naruto is sitting on his favourite pole, waiting for his sensei. "What are you doing here?" Naruto says towards the forest. A black-haired head poked out from a bush. "That is my question. We aren't supposed to be here until we have a team." The black-haired boy said. "Typical Senju behaviour expecting favouritism all the time." He said whilst emerging from the bush, crossing his arms over his chest and pouting. "You're Sasuke Uchihia right̀? ... I have something that requires training. It's not that different from you receiving training for your sharingan, is it?" Naruto countered.

"Also don't you have training ground at the clan compound." Naruto mirrored his expression and body language. Lightning shot out from both eyes at this point. "I didn't know there were any Senjus left except for Tsunade," He suddenly said. "My mother was the great-grandchild of the first Hokage." Naruto said, turning slightly sad at the thought of his mother. That's the moment Tora decided to make his appearance. "I thought I told you to keep this a secret," Tora said to Naruto. "I did, he followed me from school," Naruto slumped his shoulders as he explained how an academy student followed him without him noticing. The training continued as per usual. Except for that Sasuke was training with as well. Naruto was happy he had a rival to measure his growth and strength. However, as Naruto went home after training, he felt a horrible shiver and that something terrible was about to happen.

Naruto was sprinting down the main street of Konoha without a care in the world. The sombre atmosphere took him by surprise, though. As he barged into the classroom, he was surprised not to see Sasuke in his ordinary seat near the window. Instead, he walked up to one of his fangirls with pink hair, Sakura, whom he thought her name was. "Where is Sasuke? You would know right?" Naruto said with a smile. "Didn't you hear? Something big happened to the Uchiha clan yesterday night. Sasuke has been unconcious since." She said. She looked down onto legs clenching her fists. "Well I guess I'm going to be skipping class today then." Naruto started walking out. Sakura snapped her head towards his retreating form. He waved to her as he stepped around the corner.

Naruto sat in a squat on the balcony outside Sasuke's window. He knocked on the window to be courteous, no change in Sasuke's sleeping form, so he opened the window and hoped to the side of Sasuke. "Well, well. what do we have here?" Naruto said out loud to himself. "What are you doing here Naruto?" An older man's voice interrupted his musings. "Jiji! I could say the same the to you. me myself: I thought he would want a friend." Naruto said as he placed a hand on Sasuke's shoulder. "I didn't think you were." The Hokage said in surprise. "We aren't. But I hope we can be," Naruto had moved a chair to sit next to the bed. The Hokage smiled and walked out of the room. After 15 minutes of just sitting watching for changes in Sasuke: nothing happened. He stood up, slapping his legs as he did. He paced around the room for another five minutes.

Naruto sat down in the lotus position, hands in the ram seal. The seals were still fresh in his mind from his academy lessons. He moulded chakra that felt different from his usual mokuton, or even suiton or doton. A hint of green sheen began glowing around his hands. The chakra felt refreshing and nurturing. He decided to put his hands to Sasuke; it just felt right to do. The exhaustion was getting to Naruto now. He was able to hold it for a couple of seconds longer.

Sasuke felt lighter a second before he woke up. The pure sadness and anger towards his brother also felt more manageable than before. He opened his eyes. He saw a mop of yellow hair and striking blue eyes. 'Naruto huh?' was the first thought in his mind. He blinked twice, his vision cleared. Naruto was sitting in a chair, panting.
