It was November and the rain had overtaken Seoul. Lisa would stay in Korea for the second year in a row during christmas. She had thought about asking Jennie and Ella if they wanted to go to Thailand with her to meet her parents. But in the back of her head, Lisa had other plans for this christmas. And she didn't want to make herself even more nervous about it with her parents around and everything. There would hopefully be time for Jennie to meet the Manobans soon enough.

Ever since she told Jennie she loved her, Lisa was sure that the korean woman was the one. Actually she had known it from the moment they first kissed but she didn't want to jinx it. Jennie was scarred when it came to dating and she had been so worried about it being too hard for Lisa to take on Ella as well. But to the Thai it wasn't hard at all because it was what she wanted. And Lisa was definitely seeing the effort Jennie made to become a better and equal partner. Not one protecting the other but both of them protecting and caring for each other and Ella.

Sure, Ella became a lot more complex to deal with now that she was fourteen and the eyerolls multiplied daily. But she was a good kid and Lisa had a strong bond with her so she knew she could manage.

For a couple of months now, Lisa had been thinking about something in her head. Back in august when Jennie had visited her photography studio, she had almost introduced Jennie to her little group of employees not as her girlfriend but as her wife. In her head she had already said the word when her mind caught up with her. Thankfully she hadn't actually said it though. That would have been super embarrassing. Not to mention awkward.

But ever since then, Lisa toyed with the thought in the back of her mind. Jennie and her had a great relationship and she loved the korean woman with all her heart. And she loved Ella as if she was her own.

She loved them both even when things were hard. When Ella threw a tantrum because Jennie wouldn't let her go to an unsupervised party one of her friends threw because Jennie knew exactly what she had been doing at fourteen years old at her first ever co-ed parties. Lisa tried to be their middle man (woman) and consoled a frustrated and crying Ella in her room, trying to make her see why her Mom had reacted so strongly to a simple party invite. And also talking it out with Jennie and making her see that Ella could be trusted.

Or when Jennie was stressed out all the way into the tips of her hair from studying and passing exams for her online college degree. Lisa made sure to take any extra workload off of her girlfriend. Like driving Ella to her dance classes and picking her up again. Or ordering food when Jennie was too tired to cook. And making sure the korean woman knew she was loved throughout the stress. Coming in for random hugs and kisses when she thought Jennie needed them which was reciprocated fiercely whenever Lisa needed it.

In return the mother-daughter duo made Lisa's life complete. It was never boring, it was never dull and it was never lonely. Their little family was loud and messy and colourful.
And on top of that Lisa had gained two more very loyal friends along the line. Jisoo and Rosie came over for dinner every second friday and Lisa and Rosie met up with each other for coffee and chatting almost every week. Sometimes they took Ella along too.

When Lisa called Rosie to tell her the news and asked wether she would help her pick out a ring, the Australian woman squealed into the phone for a solid thirty seconds before she started crying. Her pregnancy hormones obviously kicking in big time. Sudden emotional outbursts and moodswings were a real thing.

"Oh my god Lisa that is amazing. I'm so happy for you!"

"What's happening?" Lisa heard Jisoo's voice from further away, coming closer.

"Lisa wants to propose!" Rosie squealed again.

"To you? She better not!" Jisoo joked which made a smitten giggle escape her wife's mouth.
