Lisa's head was spinning inside the high-end jewellery store in the middle of Cheongdamdong.

Her, Ella and Rosie had been here for just under an hour and all the different choices from materials over diamond cuts to carat levels were overwhelming the Thai woman.

Prices were another heartbeat-raising factor but Lisa had been prepared for that. She knew she'd spend some money and was ok with it. However the other million choices she was faced with, really got to her.

Her and Jennie had only been dating close to a year. To say they knew each other inside out was exaggerated. They were constantly learning new things about the other. Every day. And that was why ring shopping for Jennie was not as easy as Lisa had pictured it.

She didn't want to overdo it but she also didn't want the ring to be underwhelming. She desperately wanted Jennie to love it but now all the choices were making Lisa's head swim.

"How about the gold band with the oval cut Lis?" Rosie pointed at the display she and the sales clerk were bent over. Lisa looked at Rosie with eyes that didn't quite know what to do. She took a deep breath.

"Rosie I think I need some air..."

The Australian stood up straight to return Lisa's gaze. Her eyebrows shot up and concern clouded her dark eyes. "You ok? Not getting any cold feet without even having proposed, are you?" She joked but Lisa could tell Rosie was low-key worried.

Lisa grabbed for her wrist to squeeze it gently. "Not getting cold feet! I think I just need a minute. Really."

Rosie's eyes pierced her deeply. "Ok."

"Unnie look over here!" Ella grabbed Lisa's attention but the Thai just called over to her before she fled from the store. "I'll be right back dumpling." The door jingled and flew shut behind her.

Outside in the cold air, Lisa took a few deep breaths. She wasn't getting cold feet. She didn't have any second thoughts about proposing to Jennie. Jennie was the woman of her dreams, the love of her life. Even with the flaws and the baggage she brought with her, Jennie was the one for Lisa. The store had just felt a bit much for a moment there.

She really wanted to get the perfect ring for Jennie. She didn't want to screw this up. Lisa felt her phone in the pocket of her coat and pulled it out. Most of the time, Jennie was the last person Lisa had called or texted so her contact always showed up on top.

Without really thinking about it, Lisa pressed the call button.

It rang a few times. Lisa stepped from one foot to the other, wrapping her free arm around herself. She saw her breath escape visibly into the cold air around her.

Then...

"Hey honey." And Lisa felt like she was able to breathe again.

"Hey baby..." She smiled softly to herself outside the fancy jewellery store.

"How is shopping with the girls? Can you handle them?"

Right. Jennie thought the three of them were currently shopping in Myeongdong.

"Yeah... yeah, they're fine, I can manage. I just... I guess I just needed to hear your voice." Lisa told her girlfriend quietly. It wasn't even a lie. Hearing Jennie's soft voice and the different intonations in her emotions made Lisa's heart beat stronger. It made her happier on the spot. Let her breathe more easily.

"Awww, honey that's very sweet. Are you ok though? You sound a bit tired."

"I'm fine. Thank you baby for worrying about me. So how's your study session going?"
