Chapter Fourteen
Resistance
Hailey Jane Rexler
His beautiful blue eyes bore into me, it was if he was reading my very soul like a book. And it was safe to say, it was kind of uncomfortable. I didn't want him seeing the suck I had going on inside of me, he didn't need those kinds of dampered emotions holding him down. He diserved better... so much better. I hardly knew him, yet I wanted him to have the world. I needed him to be happy, and I don't think I could give him that. I didn't know what to do now... I came with every intention of pouring out the truth to him, and never having to see him again... no matter how much it hurt me. Then of course, stupid Drew Holiday had to kiss me with the most amazing kiss I'd ever imagined. A kiss that left me longing to have his lips bac on mine, where they belonged. I took a step back. He took a step forward.
'You're making this difficult...' I said.
'What happened to not leaving me?' he asked grinning now.
'Spur of the moment...' I said.
'Too bad, I took it seriously.' he said.
'I don't want this...' I muttered.
'I do.' he said. He grabbed my arms. The inviting flames tasting my skin. He lifted my chin to look me in the eyes, I didn't protest, his eyes were godly, much like the rest of him. Oh lord... might as well take a belt and call me whipped. 'More than anything in the world.' he said seriously.
'I don't see why.' I said.
'Get some eyes sweetheart.' he grinned. I knew what they meant by a breath-taking smile.
'What do I do now...' I muttered.
'YOU don't do anything, it's we from now on.' he said.
'We...' I muttered. The fact that a simple two letter word sent flutters to my heart and set my mind aflight, had to be a bit frightening. But instead it made me too happy for my own good. 'You have a girlfriend.' I said. He stepped back and looked at me shocked.
'That's what you're thinking about?' he asked me dumbfounded.
'Well...' I said. He did.
'I'd take you over her any day.' He would?
'You would?' I asked.
'That's not even a question worth asking.' he said.
'It isn't?'
'No. I'd do anything for you.' he said. He's unbeleivable, he really is.
'We hardly know each other...' I muttered.
'Then we should get to know each other.' he said.

I took a deep breath. Was this stupid... maybe. Was I going to do it... yes. I sat at the chair to left of the head of the table. Our pack was having a meeting, we were discussing the war and the ever present issues of rogues. Suddenly, the topic shifted back towards the South pack, I gulped. Drew was going to be Alpha of that pack some day. I nudged my father. The group was getting extremely rowdy and unkempt.
'Dad,' I whispered. 'I need to tell you something.'
'Not now Hailey,' he said softly. 'We need an advantage!' my father shouted over the group.
'But what?!?' asked Greg, a man about my father's age. 'We've used all the tricks in the book!'
'There has to be something!' my father said.
