Chapter Eighteen
Reparation
Hailey Jane Rexler
I poked him in the shoulder tenitavely. He groaned. Oops. I can't beleive I just did that! I don't know what's come over me. I stared at him and it my lip. He looked really cute when he was in pain... why was he in pain? Wait... that was me! Why did I do that again? It's really been bothering me. I've been really posessive over things lately. My wolf needs to be dominant. But whenever I gain dominance over what I think I want it's never enough. I felt like growling out in frustration. Then I remembered Drew, he lay sprawled across the ground, his messy brown hair in his eyes and his breathing was laboured. I sniffled and he looked at me, hurt in his eyes.
'Don't cry Hailey,' he said. Sadly, this caused me to burst out emotionally and started bawling. 'Hailey!' he pleaded. 'Please stop crying, it's all my fault!' he begged desperately, looking more pained by me crying than his broken leg. He was unbelievable! He was taking blame for what I clearly did!
'Your fault?' I sniffed in disbeleif, wiping away my tears with my baggy hoodie's sleeve.
'Of course it is,' he said. 'I stepped into your territory when you were in a mood.'
'A mood?!?' I snapped.
'Never mind...' he said.
'It was my counter...' I said. Choosing to agree with his ridiculous notion to calm me down than to admit I was acting irrationally. Which I would never do. Not over my dead body.
'Sure it was...' he muttered, standing up with the slightest limp.
'You're leg's practically healed!' I said. 'You completely overreacted!' I growled. He backed away, wincing whenever he stepped on his broken yet healing leg. The look in his eyes clearly screamed "I'm the one who's overreacting!?!"
'What is up with you?' he asked, backing up behind a potted plant. 'Are you bipolar or something?!?'
'NOW YOU'RE MAKING FUN OF ME?!?' I wailed a glass at the wall beside his head. His eyes widened in shock as the crystalline pieces rained down around him. I was fuming. I actually saw where the phrase "seeing red" came from. I can't believe he was saying these things. 'WE WILL NEVER WORK OUT! I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHY I'M STILL HERE?!? WHY DID I EVEN COME HERE!?! I HARDLY KNOW YOU! I HATE YOU! YOU'RE SUCH AN ASSHOLE!" I screamed at him. His expression was hurt and broken at first, but it shifted back to frightened and concerned.
'Hails...' he said.
'Only my family and friends call me Hails...' I whimpered. I bit my lip. Overwhelming sadness filled me. I started shaking and bawling and I collapsed to the floor against the island. 'I MISS MY FAMILY!!!' I wailed. Tears poured out of my eyes, the wetness spreading over my face like wild-fire. Burning with the same sorrowful passion as well. He was staring at me. 'JUST GO AWAY!!!'
'Are you on drugs?' He asked, in all seriousness.
'WHERE WOULD I EVEN GET THEM?!?' I bawled. He looked seriously worried. His eyes shifted towards the door and back towards me.
'I'll be right back!' he said.
'DON'T LEAVE ME!!!' I screeched desperately. So what did he do? He left me! That inconsiderate snob! He's actually supposed to be my mate? I can't stand him! I hardly know him! We're complete opposites! He drives me crazy! He tries to take my counter away from me! He blames me for breaking his leg! It just healed right away anyway! Then he goes and had the nerve to call me bipolar!?! I mean he's nice sometimes... and really good looking, but I hate him! Then he accuses me of doing drugs! Unbelievable! The only thing I've done remotely close to doing drugs was kissing him, and I never did it again, so I'm nowhere close to being an addict! And then he leaves!
I continued bawling on the floor until two pretty girls that went to my school and a woman in her mid-forties entered the room with Drew on their tails. They stared at me.
'You're Rexler right?' the redhead asked.
'My name is Hailey!' I bawled. Why was she calling me that? Is that what they called me behind my back? REXLER?!?
'Uh... it's okay Hailey...' the red head said, shooting this pretty mousy blonde girl a look that said "Yup, she's crazy". 'I'm Miranda, Kenny's mate.'
'IS THAT ALL WOMEN ARE JUDGED FOR THESE DAYS? THEIR MATES? WE ARE INDEPENDENT!' I said.
'Ah no...' the blond girl said shyly. 'I'm Kelsey... just Kelsey.' she said. I sniffled and looked at her. She turned to the gorgeous woman beside her. She had crystal blue eyes and tan Mediterranean skin, with kind smile lines near her beautiful eyes.
'Who are you?' I sniffed.
'I'm Linda Holiday.' she said.
'You're very pretty.' I said. She smiled.
'Thank you Hailey.' she said in a very proper accent. It was so sophisticated and worldly.
'WHO TOLD YOU MY NAME?!? WAS IT DREW!?! DON'T BELIEVE WHAT HE TELLS YOU! I AM NOT BIPOLAR! AND I DO NOT DO DRUGS!' I wailed.
'No, no, no honey, you told us your name.' she said calmly.
'Oh.' I said embarrassed, a pink flush coming to my cheeks.
'You can leave now Andrew.' she said. I would have been rolling on the floor laughing at the use of the name Andrew if I didn't feel so unstable right now.
'Sure Mum,' he said. He left reluctantly, but something told me he just didn't disobey his mother.
'Okay Hailey,' Linda said. 'I think we should probably tell you, that it's your time of the month.'
'What?!? How would you know?!?' I said, biting at my lip and sniffling.
'Not that time of the month... your wolf-time-of-the month, that other time of the month stopped the moment you found your mate.' she said, consoling me.
'It did?' I asked confused.
'Yes.' she said.
'Oh.'
'Your new time of the month is often around a certain time of the cycle of the moon, and seeing as your mate is of full alpha decent, I'm not surprised that yours is the full moon.' she said. I just nodded and hugged my knees up against my chest. 'And because your mate is the alpha, the emotions that you feel may be especially overbearing.'
'Okay.' I said. Something twitched and burned inside my abdomen, I groaned in agitation. I'd been having this odd itchy feeling in my stomach all week.
'What's wrong?' Kelsey asked me. I could tell she was calmer and more timid than Miranda the fiery redhead, whose hair matched her personality.
'It's just my stomach, it's acting all weird, it's been like this for the past few days though.' I assured them. They all looked at each other and exchanged a look.
'Don't worry hon,' Linda said. 'It's all a part of your time of the month.' she said.
'It is?' I asked.
'Yes, it is easily relieved through er... intimate exertion.' she said.
'Ah... what?' I asked confused. Miranda spoke up. Loud and in charge as usual.
'It means... YOU. NEED. TO. GET. LAID!' she said. She sighed. I sat their dumbstruck and slightly embarrassed that she said this in front of Drew's mother. I think I'd rather have my other time of the month.
