A/N: So… I wasn’t going to do this initially, but with April Fool’s falling on a Friday this year, it was just too perfect. I hope this makes somebody smile, even though I myself am not a prankster. If you want more of Zevi and Vis in ARC training, let me know, there could be more bonus chapters headed your way…
“I want all of you to form groups of four! You will first be fighting with your designated co-trooper, and then against them with one of the opposing pair. Understood?”
“Yes, sir!”
“Go!”
Vis looked up and made eye contact with a goateed brother, who quickly nudged his brother and started to make his way over to them.
“Hey, I’m Fives,” he introduced himself with a confident smirk. “And that’s Echo.”
“Hi, I’m Echo,” the one behind him repeated.
“I can see why,” Zevi muttered.
“It’s nice to meet you,” Vis said over top of his brother’s comment. “We’re Vis and Zevi. What battalion are you from?”
“Only the best one,” Fives bragged. “The 501st. You know, I saved Captain Rex’s life one time.”
“Like hell you did,” Echo countered. “Don’t take anything he says as truth,” he warned, looking at the other two.
“For example, Echo is the best soldier in the GAR. Total lie,” Fives joked. “Anyway, uh, what battalion are you two from? How’d you get here?”
“We’re from the 38th,” Zevi told them. “We’re from a command squad, but we didn’t get a promotion like our brothers. Apparently we’ve got a special something for ARC training.”
“Command squad?” Fives asked, surprised.
“Yeah, we’re technically Lieutenants Zevi and Vis,” Vis amended.
“Sirs!” Echo saluted. Fives was quick to follow.
Zevi gave a hearty laugh. “Listen, listen, it doesn’t matter,” he assured them. “Right now, we’re all just basically cadets, right? We’re all getting our butts kicked by Alpha-17. So it doesn’t matter.”
The brothers relaxed, and Vis chuckled. “Well, we should probably do what we’re supposed to be doing,” he reminded them.
“Right,” Echo agreed, settling into a fighting stance.
Punches and kicks flew, and the ARCs-in-training grimaced and grinned as they tried to take each other out.
“Vis, good focus,” Alpha-17 called out. “Watch the eyes instead of the hands, you should know that. Fives, you need to find a way to balance your aggression with Echo’s caution, otherwise both of you will lose in a fight if you’re ever left on your own.”
“Yes, sir!” They replied.
“I must not be doing too bad, then,” Zevi muttered, just as Fives landed a square hit on his jaw.
“And Zevi,” Alpha-17 said, and he could swear that son of a Hutt was laughing, “Tighten your defenses.”
“Yes, sir.”
* * *
In the mess, Vis chuckled as he watched Zevi try to discreetly nurse his bruise.
“Shut your face,” he warned.
“I didn’t say anything,” Vis defended.
“Afternoon,” Fives said, both he and Echo sliding into seats across from them. “Ah, sorry about that, vod, but the Captain did say anything goes.”
