Chapter 6: Ruined

(A/N: OKAY SO, This story will only be written in 3rd person POV from now on, so just a heads up.)

Ludwig waited silently. The silence of the living room seemed unbearably loud as he waited for Lilli to bring her bags downstairs.

He bit his nails as he waited, accidentally breaking the top of the nail on his index finger. It wasn't long before he heard Lilli come down the wooden stairs.

"Ready to go?" Ludwig asked. Lilli didn't speak, only replying with a small nod. Ludwig hadn't heard her speak a word since that morning, when she asked to be alone.

The two began to walk out to the vehicle. Lilli carried her own bags, even though Ludwig had offered to carry them for her. She just shook her head.

Ludwig decided to try not to ask any more questions, as she seemed as if she'd rather be left alone. As the two drove, Lilli kept her knees up close to her chest, as she twiddled with her thumbs.

Ludwig always knew she was shy and reserved, but never to this decent. It wasn't long before the two had pulled into the driveway. Ludwig carried Lilli's bags for her, as she walked inside the house with her head hanging low.

Emma had gotten there just a few minutes earlier. She was telling Feliciano about what Vash had told her. Elizaveta was walking down the stairs, heading towards the dining room.

Ludwig seemed to have disturbed the silence by opening the strangely squeaky door, which he'd been meaning to take a look at, to look if anything was wrong with it.

Feliciano's hazel eyes lit up at the sight of Ludwig. "Ludwig! You're here!" He yelled as he ran over to go hug him. Ludwig almost fell over at Feliciano coming at him, but he attempted to hug him back, even though he was carrying the bags.

He decided to lay the bags down gently before squeezing Feliciano back. Lilli walked in at the sight on them hugging, as she picked up the bags and brought them into the spare room she always stayed in when she went to their house.

As Feliciano finally let go, he looked back at Lilli walking upstairs. "Is she okay?" He asked. "Just... Try not to talk to her. I don't think she'd like to interact with anyone right now." Ludwig replied.

Feliciano nodded. Emma and Elizaveta had also seemed to have heard it, as they turned their heads when Ludwig began to speak.

Lilli didn't come downstairs. She just stayed upstairs and unpacked. Seeing Lilli in such a mood hurt, consider how happy and wholesome she normally is towards people. It was heartbreaking. Not even that, it was heart-shattering.

Ludwig assisted Feliciano with the cooking, but he couldn't focus on it. He was too concerned about Lilli to think. What if something bad happens to her because of the state she's in? What if she changes for the worst?

In a way, it hurt to think about. He'd only started to get closer to her just before it was confirmed that them and the other Germanics were siblings, but he needed to step up and take care of Lilli like Vash did before the accident.

Hopefully, Vash would be well enough mentally and physically soon enough to take care of Lilli again. Not because he didn't want to, he just knew how important Vash was to Lilli.

But, he'd seen something. He saw Vash start to spend more time with Emma than his family. And to be honest, Vash was not a good romantic. Maybe they were getting somewhere?
