RWBY characters are taken from their reality of Remnant (pre volume 3) and thrust into a spacious theater in the middle of nowhere, forced via an unknown entity to watch different versions of themselves (though not all the time as that can get limit...
In the middle of the vast void...there floated a standard looking cinema, complete with a concession stand, a lobby with unused rooms, the arcade barely anybody touches, and of course the theater room. It was your standard run of the mill minimum wage teenage kids 20-minute walk away workplace. It even had the dusty old red carpets meant to make you feel like you were actually walking THE red carpet.
Except you weren't walking on a carpet costing the same as a new SUV worth 24k and said carpet hadn't been vacuumed since the cinema opened. At least this one has a spilled soda stain that never fully got out. That's something the Oscars can only ever dream of replicating.
In the very center of the cinema shined a bright orb of blue light. It eventually became so bright that every surface was lit up and engulfed by the hue. Only after a couple of seconds did the light subside and the orb was lightly pulsing, signifying life of some sort. This godlike off brand lightbulb goes by the name of
Oracle
"Ah, this is most strange..." Oracle mused as they began floating around the desolated cinema.
"I...am not supposed to be awoken until...oh...I see, the time has come.
Not a moment after that sentence was finished, Oracle began remodeling the entire cinema. The entire environment started to slowly shift, and it was mesmerizing. Every atom in the environment started to move, it was almost as if one was staring at a surreal art piece being painted in front of their very eyes.
"Such...eccentric and exquisite guests require something far more...refined." Oracle scoffed at the mockery of the previous cinema's architecture and aesthetic.
The old white floors had been replaced with modern black tile, the classic red theater chairs being refurbished, and new lavish red semicircular couches paired with freshly polished glass tables. It was very spacious, enough to fit a whole party size worth of people.

The other rooms were also being expanded and enhanced behind the scenes. The concession stand was restocked, rooms were being renovated with practice rings, security measures were added, a bar, a pool, an indoor club, a library, and an updated arcade room.
"I believe now is the time to...collect the participants."

Beacon Academy, Cafeteria
The cafeteria was bustling with activity as usual and then some, with the addition of the students temporarily transferring to Beacon for the Vytal Festival.
