I wake up before Chris, rolling over to see Dodger wasn't on the bed. I got out of bed, careful not to wake Chris as I pulled on a robe before walking downstairs. I peeked into Kahlan's room to find Dodger laying next to her. He raised his head, looking at me before laying his head back down. I chuckled, closing the door slightly. I made coffee before going to stand at the door to the back patio, watching the snow fall when I heard Chris come up behind me, wrapping his arms around me.

"Merry Christmas love." He moved the collar of my robe down, as he kissed my neck. He brought his arms around me, undoing my robe as he wrapped his arms around me inside the robe.

I yelped softly, "your hands are so cold Chris."

He chuckled, kissing from my shoulder to my ear, "warm them up for me."

Before I could respond I felt him reach his right hand down my shorts as he kicked my legs apart from behind. He wasted no time inserting his two middle fingers urgently as his palm hit my clit. I brought my hands up to the window as he brought his left hand up, gripping my hand in his, "Chris."

He chuckled at my whimper as he kissed and nipped at my neck, "I love you. Not too loud now."

I nodded as I rested my head back on his shoulder as I felt the waves approaching. He brought his left arm around my waist, keeping me up on my feet as I pushed back against him as I came hard on his hand. I moaned, turning to face him as I crashed my lips into his as I heard him chuckle. "I love you too. Merry Christmas Chris."

He smiled, as I followed him into the kitchen, watching him wash his hands as we heard Dodger running down the hall followed shortly by Kahlan.

"Morning Kahlan." She didn't say anything as she came up to me, wrapping her arms around me. I looked up at Chris who gave me a half smile.

She sighed, "it's our first Christmas without him."

"I know love. I'm sorry." I looked at Chris again and he nodded, leaving the room. He came back into the kitchen, setting a giant box on the counter. "We found this at your father's house when we were cleaning it out. He bought this for you for Christmas and was holding onto it."

Kahlan nodded, looking at the box, "what is it?"

Chris smiled, "just open it princess."

She sighed, pulling the card off the top, finding a note inside from Alec.

My Heart -
As you get older, I find it harder to find what to get you. But what I do know is that you should be doing music.
I love you so much. I know you've always wanted to learn.
-Daddy

I grabbed Chris's hand as I watched Kahlan wiping away some tears as she opened the box to find a brand new guitar, a smile spreading across her face.

"Do you like it?"

Kahlan nodded, "I love it mama."

I sighed, "good. We also got you guitar lessons if you want."

She smiled, nodding enthusiastically, "I do! Thank you!"

I laughed as she hugged us both before taking her guitar to the sitting room off the kitchen, fiddling with it. I looked at Chris and he just nodded and followed me to to her. "We need to talk to you about a few things Kahlan."

She nodded, setting her guitar down as Chris sat on the coffee table in front of her and I sat next to her.

I motioned to Chris, "not long after the new year, Chris is going to have to leave. For filming."

She sighed, but nodded, "for how long?"

Chris groaned, "I'm pretty much going to be filming for the next year. I won't really be around much."

I watched Kahlan as her eyes welled up with tears, "it's going to be okay."

She shook her head, "I don't want you to go too. What if something happens?"

I groaned as Chris pulled her to him as she rested her head on his shoulder, "nothing is going to happen. I'll talk to you everyday. And you can come for a visit on spring break and over the summer. I promise I'll be home as often as I can be. And hey." He pulled her away, bringing his thumbs up to wipe away the stray tears off her cheeks, "I was going to ask if you wanted to be my date for the Oscars in February."

Kahlan smiled, looking from me, back to Chris, "really? Me and mom?"

He shook his head, "just you. I talked to your mom about it and my mom is going to join us. But you'll be my date." He shrugged, "I mean, if you want to that is."

I laughed as Kahlan wrapped her arms around him again.

"I'd love to Chris!" She pulled away, looking at me, "you're going to let me go to LA all by myself?"

I laughed, "not exactly. Grandma Lisa will be going with you for when you can't be with Chris. But yes."

"Thanks mom!"

I grunted as she wrapped her arms around me, hugging me tightly. "You're welcome love."
