***************3 months later***************

I wake up in the middle of the night, feeling someone slip into bed behind me, wrapping their arms around me. I smile, recognizing his scent, "Chris. You're here."

He chuckled, "just for the day for your birthday. I figured today would be tough for you and Kahlan. And I missed you."

I turned to face him, placing my hand on his cheek, removing it quickly, "oh no! More than a year and a half together and I've never seen your face."

Chris laughed, "had to get into Steve Rogers. I'm sorry, you not like my face?"

I giggled as he laid on top of me, kissing my neck, "I love your face, but I miss the tickle." I ran my hands down his back to his ass, "are you naked already?"

He nodded, "yes. Catch up."

I squealed as he pulled my shirt off me as he trailed kisses down my chest to the band of my panties. He hooked his thumbs under the band, removing them quickly before hovering back over me between my legs. "I missed you."

Chris moaned softly as he entered me slowly, making me throw my head back, "I miss you Nat." He leaned his mouth next to my ear as he gripped his hands in mine, pinning them above my head, "happy birthday love."

I nodded, "shut up and kiss me." I heard him chuckle as he pressed his lips to mine, speeding up. He trailed his lips down my neck to my shoulder as I heard him moan. "It's been so long. Don't stop Chris."

"Me too Nat."

Once we finished, Chris laid back on his back as I watched him looking around the room. "Where's my dog?"

I laughed, "he sleeps in Kahlan's room the majority of the time."

Chris laughed, "of course he does. I lost him as soon as I brought her into this house." He got up, putting on shorts before tossing my clothes back at me.

I chuckled, getting dressed as he laid back in bed next to me. I rolled over to his chest as he put his arm up, "but you gained me. So, it's all good."

He laughed, nodding, "I love you."

I sighed, "I love you too Chris. I miss you."

"I know love. Few more months. We need to talk about New York. Broadway."

I groaned, "after I sleep."

Chris chuckled, "okay."

I wake up with a grunt as I feel Dodger jumping onto the bed onto my chest. I sit up as I hear Kahlan coming down the hall. I feel Chris sit up next to me as Kahlan approaches the bedroom door, her hand over her eyes.

"Daddy home? Are you guys dressed?"

Chris laughed, "yes. Come here." He stood up, pulling on his t-shirt in time for Kahlan to crash into him, wrapping her arms around him. "Good morning princess."

Kahlan pulled away, "morning. I saw the flowers you left for us downstairs."

He nodded, running his fingers through her hair, "how are you?"

She shrugged, "can I stay home from school today?"

Chris chuckled, looking at me and back to Kahlan. "Yes. Go get dressed and I'll take you to your father's grave before breakfast."

Kahlan grinned, nodding, "okay!" I watched her hug him once more. "I missed you."

Chris smiled, "I missed you too princess."

I watched Chris shut the door after Kahlan left. "You told her she could stay home without asking me?"

He shrugged, "I'm only home for today. I have to leave first thing in the morning. I wanted to spend as much time as possible with you guys."

I laughed, getting up to make the bed, "I know. I'm just giving you a hard time."

Chris smirked, "I can give you a hard time."

I giggled, wrapping my arms around him, "later."

I stood with Chris, holding his hand as Kahlan knelt in front of Alec's headstone, talking to him. I rested my head on Chris's shoulder. "You know it was Alec that helped me get over being scared to let you in."

Chris sighed, "I know." He turned to face me, bringing his hand up to my cheek, "it's because of him I have the two most amazing women in my life."

I smiled, "ugh. You ever get tired of always saying the right things?"

Chris laughed, "nope." He pulled away as Kahlan came up to us. He put his arms around her as I played with her hair.

"Come on. Let's go get breakfast. We have some things to talk about."

Kahlan nodded, grabbing my hand.

I looked at Chris as we all sat down for breakfast. "Okay Chris. New York. Go."

Chris chuckled, "okay. I'll be on Broadway for a few months. I don't really want to be away from you guys again though."

I nodded, "I know."

Kahlan shrugged, "you're going to be in New York? I have school."

I sighed, "I know Kahlan. What do you think about being homeschooled? We can homeschool next semester. And then you can maybe even graduate early. That way, we can all go to New York while Chris is there."

Kahlan grinned, "really? I love that mama!"

Chris smiled, "you didn't tell me any of this."

I shrugged, "I know. I wanted to talk about it in person. Is it okay?"

Chris nodded, "of course it is. You have no idea how much I want you guys and Dodger with me."

"Good." I looked back at Kahlan. "There was something else I wanted to talk to you about. About the wedding."

Kahlan nodded, "okay."

I shrugged, "I wanted to know if you wanted to be my maid of honor." I laughed as I heard her squeal, looking at Chris to see him laughing.

"Really mama? I love it!"

Chris laughed, "you'll walk with Uncle Scott." He looked at me, "what about your parents?"

I groaned, "I don't know. I was considering asking Braeden to walk me down. It probably would have been Alec before."

He nodded, "whatever you want is fine with me." He pulled a box from his pocket, sliding it on the table towards me, "happy birthday."

I shook my head, grabbing the box, "just having you here is present enough Chris." I opened the box to find a diamond heart necklace, "it's beautiful Chris! Thank you."

He smiled, pulling out another box, sliding it to Kahlan.

Kahlan took the box, "what is this?"

Chris laughed, "just open it."

Kahlan sighed, opening the box to find a charm bracelet with heart charm on it. She looked at it to see Alec's initials on it; ASF. "Chris. I love it. Thank you."

He smiled, "I'll add more. I wanted the first one to be for your father."

She nodded, wiping a stray tear, "thank you."
