********4 months later********

I came out of the dressing room, looking from Kahlan to Hailey. "Thanks for coming to New York for the weekend Hailey."

Hailey stood up, "are you kidding? I get away for the weekend and I get to watch you try on wedding dresses? You couldn't keep me away."

I laughed, turning to look in the mirror, "I don't know. I can't decide on anything." I looked at the long sleeve wedding dress as Hailey approached me.

"Well you're getting married at the end of June, right? So maybe long sleeve is a bad idea."

I nodded, "I know. White is too. Maybe that's the problem. They're all white."

Hailey laughed, "majority of brides aren't virgins when they get married Nat. It doesn't matter anymore. Wear whatever you want."

I sighed, pointing to Kahlan, "well it's obvious I'm not a virgin. Just feels weird wearing white."

"What does Chris say to not wearing white?"

I shrugged, "he doesn't care what I wear as long as I end the day as an Evans."

Hailey laughed, "well then, Kahlan and I will go look at not white dresses while you take that one off."

I nodded, changing back into my clothes. I came out as they approached, seeing Kahlan carrying a blush pink dress. "Oh my god. Kahlan. That's perfect!" I heard her laugh as I took the dress back into the dressing room, putting it on before coming out to let Hailey zip it for me. I turned and looked in the mirror, "Kahlan, I love it." It was blush pink with a tulle skirt and beaded, floral bodice. "Thank you."

Kahlan smiled, "you're welcome mama. What about Hailey and me?"

I turned back to them, "what about gray? And they boys can wear gray suits?"

Hailey and Kahlan nodded, "sounds good."

Kahlan hesitated, "mom? Can I ask you something about the wedding?"

I shrugged, "of course. What is it?" I saw her blush slightly as she fiddled with the bottom of her shirt.

"Can I bring a date?"

I groaned, hearing Hailey giggle, "as long as it isn't Tom."

"Mom! Please!"

"Kahlan Marie! I was kidding. You can't be serious!"

Kahlan groaned, "we're just friends. Please."

"Ugh. I hate Chris so much right now that he ever introduced you to that boy."

Kahlan laughed, "see, you said boy. You don't even see him as an adult."

I shook my head as I laughed, "I hate you so much, Kahlan."

She grinned, "no you don't. I'll be 16 by then. I don't know what it is you're expecting to happen mom."

I sighed, "yeah. I know. You're going to be 16 and you're not a kid anymore. That doesn't make him any less younger. I'll talk to Chris about it."

Kahlan nodded, "okay. Thanks mama."

"Mom, do you think I could graduate this summer?"

I sighed, looking over her work, "if you wanted to, I'm sure you could if you worked hard enough."

Kahlan grinned, "I will."

I shook my head, looking at her as I played with her dark hair, "you're growing up too fast. And you look more like your father everyday, you know that?"

She nodded, resting her head on my shoulder, "I know. I know I've talked to Chris about it before, but do you think he'll be mad if I don't take his name?"

"No way." I placed my hand on her cheek, making her look up at me, "he loves you like you're his own daughter. But he wants you to keep your father's name."

"Okay. I just didn't want to upset him."

I chuckled, "you won't. Don't worry." I heard the door to the apartment open up as Chris entered the kitchen, Kahlan and me both laughing.

Chris stopped in front of us, "what?!"

I stood up to approach him, "what is on your face?"

He chuckled, running his finger over his mustache, "this is what we decided on for the character. You don't like it?"

I laughed, "well I don't love it." I squealed as he tickled my neck with it, rubbing it on my neck, "stop!"

Chris laughed, "I can make you like it."

I giggled as he winked at me, hearing Kahlan groan behind us.

"You guys are gross."

I nodded, turning back to her, "we are. Keep that in mind." I felt Chris wrap his arms around me from behind as we looked at Kahlan. "Kahlan wants to bring Tom as her date to the wedding."

Chris shrugged, "okay."

I saw Kahlan grin as I sighed, "that's it? Just okay?"

Chris chuckled, letting go as he got a water bottle from the refrigerator, "yeah. Okay. What's the problem?"

I rolled my eyes, "he'll be able to drink at the wedding, and she won't?"

Chris laughed, "and she'll be able to drink in the UK in two years. She's not a kid and if it were anyone else, I could see the problem. But I don't see a problem here."

I saw him wink at Kahlan, "ugh. Fine!"

"Thank you daddy!"

Chris chuckled as Kahlan hugged him, "of course. Now did you guys pick out a wedding dress?"

I nodded, "I'm not wearing white. I'm wearing pink."

He shrugged, "whatever you want."

I laughed, wrapping my arms around his neck, "you're far too easy going."

Chris chuckled as he rested his hands at my waist, "I have you girls. That's all I want. Except for maybe a baby."

I giggled, "yeah? Okay."

He grinned as I heard Kahlan squeal behind us, "okay? Okay as in we can start trying now, or after the wedding?"

I shrugged, "whatever you want." I laughed as he lifted me, twirling me around before setting me back on the ground.
