♾️ Jughead ♾️

The next few days, Betty and I talked a lot. I still had trouble to get out of bed though. Things were... just hard. Like I was still kind of drunk but just enough to be in a haze without actually having drunk anything.

"Jughead?" Betty asked, knocking on the door. I barely made it out of bed this week. When I wasn't at work, I was in there. I spend the time when Betty was at work there too. The twins and I stayed in our king sized bed and only got out to change diapers or eat something.

"Hey, uhm... Myles won't calm down. Could you please try it? I already did everything I could" She added. I hummed, sitting up from the bed. It was already 9 then. Usually Betty was at work at this time but today, she had a short day and only had to be at the register at 11am, so in another two hours.

I walked downstairs and found Betty in the living room, holding Myles in her arms, who wouldn't stop crying. I picked him up and started swaying him while humming as well — just like always but today it just didn't want to work.

"Babyboy, what's wrong?" I asked, pulling him closer. Kissing his forehead I noticed that he was rather warm.

"Hey, you're burning. No wonder that you are crying so much" I pulled him even closer "Did he have one yesterday evening too?" I asked, looking up at Betty. I'd already went to sleep early yesterday, since I couldn't bring myself to get out of bed. Betty had joined me at some point, though we didn't talk then. This morning, she was already awake when I came back from Pops.

"I... I don't think so. I didn't even realize that he had a fever now..." She mumbled, furrowing her brows. I nodded before reaching up to hold the back of my hand against her forehead.

"What are you doing....?" She asked.

"Checking if you're warm too — which you are. How are you feeling?"

"I'm fine, I didn't even notice it"

"Maybe you should nevertheless text Alice and call in sick. I don't like you working with a fever"

"I'm fine, Jug, really. We should really focus on Myles right now" She said and I nodded — for now.

"Have you fed him yet?" She shook her head.

"No, he wouldn't latch on..."

"Okay, then I will mix in some fever lowering medication in the formula and then we see how that goes" I said and she nodded.

"Thank you for helping me"

"No need to. I will probably still go to the doctor once you're at work, just to be sure" I paused "I know that I haven't been helping you much, Betty. I... I'm figuring things out, okay? I will... I will be able to help you more again, soon, I promise"

"I know. Take the time that you need"

"Could you check up on Emilia? See if she has a fever too? Or do you not notice that?" I asked and Betty shrugged, so I nodded. After having mixed the formula, with a small bag of Tylenol. I reached Betty both before walking over to the playmat. Emilia, surprisingly, was still asleep, curled up on herself. I felt her forehead too — she seemed alright though, somehow. I put her back down to continue sleeping, however she did that, then I walked over to Betty and took Myles again. I wanted to keep her from as much trouble as possible.

"Emilia seems alright" I said as I gave Myles the bottle with formula again. Betty nodded. After some starter problems, Myles started to suck on the bottle.

"That's my boy"

Once she left for work, I finally had calmed down Myles again. She said a quick goodbye and hugged me, though only briefly. After Betty was gone, I took the time to eat a yogurt and made a tea for later. Then I got the twins in outside clothes before we headed to the doctor. In the end, she just suggested to give Myles a little bit of Tylenol with breakfast and everything should be fine. If Emilia started a fever, I should do the same with her. So nothing new happened. After the doctor, I went to a short trip to the supermarket in order to get some groceries before we finally went home. The twins got their lunch and I made myself a smoothie with some frozen berries.
