PLANET EARTH
MARCH, 2023
Jungkook is getting impatient.
This, in itself, is worrying. Angels, as a rule, do not get impatient. In fact, they do not feel much, full stop. Sure, in his human form he can feel paler versions of joy, anger, sadness - but it is like someone took the radio of human emotion and dialled the volume right down.
It should be a minor sensation. A blip.
It should not be occupying his every human thought.
Which is exactly what Mia Moon is doing.
Well, not her, exactly, but her total avoidance of him. He'd thought they were getting somewhere after drinks with Yoongi and Jimin. Mia had clearly appreciated what he had done for her in sending her Bruno all those months back. Something in her had softened as she took his hand, and Jungkook's new human stomach had danced in trimph, at finally getting somewhere. He'd let her go that night thinking that progress would be swift.
That was Friday. Now, it's Wednesday.
Five whole days, he has waited for an answer. Five times he has returned to Earth in his human form, at times he thinks are the most convenient, to try to convince her to start working with him.
The first time, on Saturday evening, she had jumped off the couch in shock, spilling popcorn everywhere (she'd been watching some true crime documentary) - and screamed at him once more for materialising in the middle of her apartment. And fair enough, she did ask him to stop doing that. He should have remembered.
But he has been back four times since then. Each time knocking politely - though she did tell him he 'didn't have to take the bloody door off' when he did, whatever that means.
The point is, he's asked nicely. And been turned down. Five times.
And some deep, primal, human part of him is starting to lose it.
She is avoiding him. For what reason, he doesn't know - but she won't let him in for long enough to find out.
So now, he's going to have to resort to more drastic measures.
This is why he is sat in Mia's office, right before her class lets out for lunch. Does she know he's here?
No.
But he knows she is not busy this lunchtime. She is going to have to speak to him, whether she likes it or not.
So he takes a seat in her office chair, and waits.
