"Hey, Moon," Jimin calls out across the theme park. "You ready to lose?"
Mia narrows her eyes at her pink-haired friend. "I'm ready to kick your tiny little butt, Park."
Jimin just laughs, turning back to his own team, including Jungkook, who just blinks in confusion. Mia feels a strange tug on her heartstrings at how lost the angel looks.
It's his own fault for joining the school's staff, she reminds herself, looking around at all of the other teachers from her school who have turned up for their Staff Team Building Day this weekend. And besides, Jungkook is a big boy. He can handle himself.
The task for today is simple. In their departments, they have to work together to solve a number of clues hidden around the park. The first to solve them will be rewarded with a prize - normally in the form of a gift voucher, or a fancy meal, to be shared among that department.
It's fair to say, some are more enthusiastic about this activity than others.
"I'll be here when you lot are done with this ridiculousness," Yoongi announces to the rest of his department, plonking down onto a bench and easing his headphones over his ears. His legs swing gently below him as he drowns out the protests of the other music teachers.
Mia giggles. Classic Yoongi.
She turns to Chul, discussing strategy with him. They have never had a chance at winning this before, since Mr Choi always holds them back with his excruciatingly slow pace. But he has not attended today - probably for the best, considering he's well into his seventies - which just leaves Mia and Chul to represent the Literature department. They might just be in with a shot.
"Okay," Chul is saying now. He has large, round eyes, that make him look sort of like a stray puppy when he employs them correctly. "I think the best thing is if we don't split up. Stay together, and we have the best chance of solving clues."
Mia nods, but doesn't reply. She is put off by the Sports team, represented by Jimin and Jungkook. Right now, Jungkook is gazing at her. No - not at her. His eyes are focused on Chul, his expression inscrutable.
What is he thinking? she wonders, before stopping herself. She has never been able to figure the angel out. There was no point starting now. Especially when they had a game to win.
"Focus on your own team, Jeon," she calls across the divide, snapping him out of his reverie.
He narrows his eyes at her, and she sees a glint in them - at first, she thinks it's annoyance, before she realises it's competitiveness. She hadn't thought the angel would really care about winning or losing, but from the look on his face right now, clearly he has other ideas.
