Remus
July 21st, 1971

Remus woke up from the sleeping draught and painkiller draught that his Dad gave him after every full moon. Moons had slowly been getting worse as he entered puberty, and it was taking longer for him to heal after moons. Usually he was fine after a few hours from when he woke up, but he had been scratching himself more and more with each moon.

He had several new long scars along his arms and legs. Over the years, his body had become crosshatched with scars, which he gave himself during transformations.

Remus had always liked books, and felt relaxed when he was reading. It was like a ticket to a more exciting experience. So he decided to read for a little while.

Remus had just finished the chapter he had started the night before when his mum knocked softly on the door.
"Remus, are you awake?" She called softly.
"Yeah," Remus replied.
Mum came in. "How are you feeling, sweetheart?" she asked.

"Same as usual. Sore, but better that before." Remus answered.

"Do you feel like you can get dressed and come downstairs? There's a wizard here to see you." Mum explained.

"Yeah, I can come down." Remus answered. "Just give me a few minutes."

His mum left the room. Remus got up and selected a lightweight long sleeve shirt, and jeans. Even though it was the height of summer, Remus almost never wore short sleeves or shorts if he was going to be around people. He didn't like people asking about his scars.

Remus came into the living room and sat down on the couch next to his father, across from an old man with a long silver beard and half moon spectacles sitting in the arm chair. There was a tea tray set out on the middle table.

"So, you're probably wondering why I'm here," the old wizard said.

"Yes, Professor Dumbledore, why are you here?" Dad asked.

"Well, first and foremost, I have a letter for Remus." Dumbledore said handing Remus an envelope, addressed to Remus John Lupin.

Remus opened it, and read:

Dear Mr Lupin
We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted to Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Enclosed is a list of the necessary items need for the school year.
Yours Truly
Minerva McGonagall
Deputy Head Mistress

"Please tell me this isn't a cruel joke. I can't go to Hogwarts." Remus said.

"Why not?" Dumbledore asked.

"Because I have... I have." Remus didn't want to say it, because he he was ashamed. And he was told his entire life not to tell anyone what he was for fear of what they would do to him.

"I know about your condition, Remus. And I don't see why that should stop you from attending Hogwarts, granted that we take certain precautions." Dumbledore said.

"Really!" Remus exclaimed as his face lit up.

"Really?" Dad questioned in shock.

"Really." Dumbledore confirmed.

Remus had been home schooled his entire life, due to his affliction. He always wished he could go to a really school, but never thought it was a possibility. Especially Hogwarts, the school of magic which his dad had attended.

"We will build a tunnel to a safe place for you to transform. Professor McGonagall, who is an animagus will escort you there. The morning after, our school healer, Madame Pomfrey, will come attend to your wounds and bring you to the hospital wing. But, you must continue to keep this a secret. There is a legitimate stigma against people inflicted with lycanthropy." Dumbledore explained.

"Got it!" Remus replied.

"He can really go to Hogwarts?" Dad asked with hopefully disbelief.

"I see no reason that Remus can't be educated." Dumbledore replied.

"Dad, can I please please please go?" Remus asked.

"Of course! Of course I want you to have a proper education and as normal of teenager years as we can give you." Dad answered.

"Yay!" Remus exclaimed.

"I can answer any questions or discuss any concerns you might have, Mr and Mrs Lupin." Dumbledore offered.

"No, I think we are ok. I'll owl you if anything comes up." Dad replied.

"In that case I shall bid you good day," Dumbledore said.

Then, he got up, and disappeared with a crack.
