Remus
October, 1972

Remus went back to the dorm, after a day of having his most recent moon related injuries mended in the hospital wing. Since the beginning of the school year, his transformations were slowly getting worse. This time, he walked away with a large gash in his chest, new scars up and down his arms, and a scratch along his jawline.

All Remus wanted to do was fall into his own bed and keep sleeping. But when he arrived in the dorm, James, Sirius, and Peter were waiting for him.

"What's up guys?" Remus asked.

"We have something important to tell you." James said.

"What's going on?" Remus asked.

"We know where you were last night." Peter said.

"Well, yeah, I told you I was in the hospital wing. I think I caught that stomach bug that Marlene had." Remus said.

"We both know that's not true." Sirius said. "Would a stomach bug explain that scar on your face?"

Remus's face fell.
"Remus, you disappear once every month for 24 hours, and you come back with new injuries every time. We know you're a werewolf." James said.

Remus was in shock and terror. He had been discovered. As the shock wore off Remus did his best to collect himself.

"I know you probably hate me now. Please just let me sleep here tonight, and I'll pack up tomorrow and be gone by the end of the day. I knew this was too good to last." Remus said sadly, and with that last sentence a few tears slipped out.

"Why would you do that?" James asked.

"We're not afraid of you." Sirius added.

"But I'm a monster. Why would you want to be friends with a monster? And why wouldn't you tell anyone now that you know?" Remus asked.

"Remus, you're no monster. Your one of the kindest people we know." Peter said.

"You fold your socks, Remus, forgive me if I'm not shuddering in terror." James added sarcastically.

"So you want me to stay?" Remus asked.

"Of course! Our gang wouldn't be complete without you! You're the brains, we need you Remus!" Sirius said.

"And you're not going to tell anyone?" Remus asked.

"Why would we? Your secret is safe with us." James said.

Remus began to full on cry.

"Hey, Remus, it's really ok. We're your friends, of course we accept you." Peter added.

"No one's ever stuck by me long enough to find out. I had some friends that I played with as a little kid, but even just thinking I was sickly they abandoned me. And I've been told since I was very little how prejudiced people are against people like me." Remus explained.

"Well that's changed now. Because we are your friends. And we are never going to leave you." Sirius said, coming in to hug Remus. James and Peter joined, forming a group hug around Remus. And that's when Remus felt the most accepted he had in his entire life.
